Heavy and painful periods aren’t something you should have to simply “deal with.” 💜
You may have heard of endometriosis, but have you heard of adenomyosis?
Adenomyosis occurs when cells similar to the lining of the uterus grow into the muscular wall of the uterus. This condition can cause symptoms such as:
✨ Extremely heavy periods
✨ Painful periods and severe cramping
✨ Pelvic pressure or pain
✨ Abnormal bleeding or bleeding between periods
✨ Symptoms that interfere with your daily life
✨ Fertility concerns for some women
Diagnosing adenomyosis can sometimes be challenging because symptoms may overlap with other gynecological conditions, and many diagnostic tests are not very specific. However, imaging such as an MRI may be helpful in evaluating the condition.
If your periods are extremely heavy, your pain is affecting your daily life, or you find yourself planning your entire life around your menstrual cycle, adenomyosis may be something worth discussing with your gynecologist.
