My favorite part of my job…building real relationships with the families that put their trust in me as a provider.
It’s important to me that every person who comes through my door feels heard and supported, not dismissive of symptoms or concerns.
Well- You know you’re doing your job when your patient thinks of you on vacation and brings back a sweet gift.
I am so excited to try this scrub. And I am so grateful for the wonderful people I get to work with everyday. 💜

Did you know? 👅

Your tongue is actually part of your airway.

It’s not just there for speech and eating — the tongue plays an important role in breathing and helping stabilize the airway, especially during sleep.

When the tongue rests low in the mouth or lacks proper tone and function, it can contribute to:
• mouth breathing
• snoring
• poor sleep quality
• clenching/grinding
• airway collapse during sleep
• tension in the jaw and neck

The goal of myofunctional therapy is helping improve the function, posture, strength, and coordination of the muscles that support healthy breathing and airway stability.

Belief: Jaw pain comes from life stress.

Fact: many times, jaw pain is connected to how the tongue rests and functions inside the mouth.

The tongue is meant to support the upper jaw, palate, airway, and overall oral-facial structure. When it isn’t resting where it should, the body often compensates.

And compensation can eventually show up as tension, clenching, headaches, jaw pain, neck tension, or facial discomfort.

This is true throughout the whole body: when one area isn’t doing its job, another area picks up the slack.

The good news?
When we retrain the tongue, improve oral habits, and help the muscles function the way they’re designed to, the body often starts to feel relief.

Jaw pain isn’t always “just stress.”
Sometimes, it’s a function problem asking to be addressed. Myofunctional therapy addresses the actual cause of the problem.

We have a lot of new faces here lately, so I wanted to take a minute to reintroduce myself 🤍

I’m Darcey—a wife, mom, myofunctional therapist, and owner of McClam Family Myo.

My background is in dental hygiene, and that’s really where I started noticing the bigger picture—so many people dealing with mouth breathing, jaw tension, and poor sleep without ever understanding why, or that their symptoms are connected.

That’s what led me into myofunctional therapy.

Now, I help kids and adults retrain how their body functions so they can breathe better, sleep better, and feel better overall.

Most of the people I work with are dealing with:
• mouth breathing
• TMJ / jaw tension
• clenching & grinding
• tongue-tie
• poor sleep

And here on this page, I like to share:
simple tips and tools you can use in therapy,
education to help you understand what’s actually going on,
and wellness habits that support your progress outside of sessions.

Inside my practice, I work 1:1 with patients,
and I also created MyoBasics—a self-paced program to give you a clear, accessible place to start.

If any of the above resonates with you, you’re in the right place and I’m really glad you’re here ✨

Sometimes this is what myofunctional therapy looks like…
in a camper, on vacation, in real life 🤍

Consistency > perfection every single time.

You don’t need a perfect routine or perfect setting to make progress—
you just need small, repeated effort. 👃 👅

🎉 I have something exciting to share…🎉

For years, I’ve seen the same pattern.
People know something isn't quite right, and know their symptoms are somehow connected. ..mouth breathing, poor sleep, jaw tension, a history of tongue-tie.
but no clear place to start.
Instead, they piece things together from Google, social media, or scattered advice…
and still have difficulty making real progress.

And then there are the families who want help—
but are limited by time, cost, or access to care.

That gap never sat right with me.

Because the truth is—these issues aren’t small.
They impact how you breathe, sleep, grow, and function every single day.
So I decided to create something to bridge that gap ✨
Not to replace therapy.
Not to be a quick fix.
But to give you a clear, structured starting point—
the same foundational approach I walk my patients through in my practice.

Something accessible.
Something realistic.
Something that actually helps you move forward.

That’s how MyoBasics was born 💛

After a lot of behind-the-scenes work bringing this to life…
MyoBasics is officially LIVE 🎉
It’s a self-paced, guided coaching program designed to give you a clear place to start—without the overwhelm.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, unsure, or just curious about myofunctional therapy…
this is for you.
And...
To celebrate the launch, I’m offering $50 off for the first 25 enrollments with code MYOBASICS50
So,
If you’ve been waiting for a sign—this is it.
Start breathing, sleeping, and functioning at your best.

These are the things I see every single day in my practice.

And while they might sound simple…
they’re often the root of bigger issues like:
• poor sleep
• jaw tension
• airway problems
• chronic mouth breathing

We’ve normalized things that the body is actually compensating for.

The goal isn’t perfection—
it’s restoring function the way the body was designed to work.

If you struggle with mouth breathing, a myofunctional evaluation can be pivotal in figuring out why it’s happening — not just treating the symptom.

What we look for:
• Nasal obstruction and chronic congestion
• Enlarged tonsils and/or adenoids
• Low tongue posture
• Tongue-tie
• Narrow or high palate / crowding

And more..

✨ Better function → better breathing.
A myofunctional approach helps uncover the why behind your symptoms so we can help you address the root cause, stop masking symptoms, and start feeling your best! 💛 visit our website to learn more. www.mcclamfamilymyo.com
