Every child deserves to be seen. Every child deserves to belong.
A cleft lip is one of the most common congenital conditions worldwide, yet access to corrective surgery remains out of reach for many children in underserved communities.
In parts of rural Sudan, children born with cleft lips often face social stigma, barriers to education, and isolation from their peers. What is considered a routine procedure in many parts of the world can be truly life-changing in areas where access to specialized surgical care is limited.
During this mission, Dr. Kabeer had the privilege of caring for children and families who traveled great distances in search of treatment. In less than an hour, surgery can restore not only function and appearance, but also confidence, opportunity, and hope.
For many children, treatment means more than a repaired smile. It means the opportunity to attend school, participate more fully in their communities, and simply enjoy being a child.
The repair is surgical. The healing is communal.
To every family who placed their trust in us, thank you. To every volunteer, donor, and team member who made this mission possible, this is why we show up.
For moments like these. 🤍
