🕯️💜 August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day 💜🕯️

Today, we shine a light on overdose, remember the lives lost, support the families and communities left behind, and stand beside those working toward recovery.

Overdose does not discriminate. It can affect people of every age, background, and community, while stigma can make it even harder for individuals to ask for help.

Awareness helps us:
âś… Replace judgment with compassion
âś… Encourage honest conversations about substance use
âś… Support access to recovery resources
âś… Promote overdose education and lifesaving tools such as naloxone
âś… Honor every life lost without shame

đź’ˇ Researchers are also exploring new supportive tools for people addressing their opioid use disorder.

A 2025 double-blind, randomized controlled trial published in BMC Psychiatry studied transcranial photobiomodulation therapy (tPBMT) in individuals receiving methadone maintenance treatment. The study reported significant improvements in anxiety, depression, and opioid cravings, with benefits sustained during follow-up.

We’re not making any claims, we are simply encouraging you to read the research, ask questions, and continue supporting approaches that bring more hope and fewer barriers to recovery.

Today, let’s remember those we’ve lost, support those still struggling, and keep working toward a future where fewer families experience this heartbreak.

💚💡 August is Gastroparesis Awareness Month 💡💚

This month, we’re shining a light on gastroparesis, a digestive condition in which the stomach empties more slowly than it should, even when there is no physical blockage.

Symptoms can vary from person to person and may include:
âś… Nausea or vomiting
âś… Feeling full after only a few bites
âś… Bloating and abdominal discomfort
âś… Heartburn or reflux
âś… Changes in appetite and nutrition
âś… Fatigue and difficulty maintaining daily routines

Because gastroparesis is often misunderstood, greater awareness can help people recognize symptoms, seek appropriate medical guidance, and feel less isolated in what they’re experiencing.

✨ Researchers are also exploring how photobiomodulation, or red and near-infrared light therapy, may interact with areas connected to digestive health, including inflammation, circulation, cellular energy, and the gut microbiome.

Light therapy is not a replacement for medical care or established gastroparesis treatments, but the developing science offers an interesting area for patients and practitioners to explore.

🔬 We’re not making any claims; we’re simply sharing research because knowledge is power. ⚡
