As everyone heads back to school, we hope this year is filled with learning, friendship, growth, and lots of happy memories!

Remember to get plenty of sleep, eat nutritious meals, stay active, wash those hands, and take time to recharge. Most importantly, we wish all of our patients a safe, healthy, and successful year back to school! 💙

As pediatricians who dedicate our lives to protecting children and keeping them healthy, we are deeply saddened by the recent news of two measles-related deaths in Pennsylvania. 💔

Measles is highly contagious and can cause serious complications, hospitalization, and, tragically, death. The good news is that measles is preventable through vaccination.

We strongly recommend protecting your children by following the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended vaccination schedule, including receiving the MMR vaccine at the recommended ages.

If you have questions or concerns about the MMR vaccine or other childhood immunizations, please talk with a pediatrician you trust. We are always here to discuss the benefits of vaccination and help you make informed decisions to protect your child from serious, vaccine-preventable illnesses. ❤️

☀️ Back-to-School is just around the corner! 📚✏️

We hope everyone has been enjoying a fantastic summer! 💙 There are only a couple of weeks until school starts, so now is the time to make sure your child is ready for the new school year.

📞 Please call ASAP if your child needs:
• A well visit
• A sports physical
• Vaccines before starting school in September

📝 If you have school, sports, or other forms that need to be completed by our office, please bring them in as soon as possible so we have plenty of time to complete them.

AAP’s vaccine recommendations for U.S. children are built on decades of research, thousands of studies, continuous safety monitoring, and the expertise of physicians and scientists whose sole focus is children's health. AAP’s schedule is based on when children’s immune systems respond best to immunizations, and when they are most vulnerable to preventable diseases.

We don't change recommendations because of political considerations, speculations, or misinformation. Right now, the evidence continues to show that these vaccines are safe, effective, and important for protecting children.

Children are at a higher risk for adverse effects of wildfire smoke, especially infants and young children. Because their lungs are still developing, they breathe in more air per minute for their body size, and they are often more active than adults. High temperatures can cause children to become sick very quickly. Heat stroke is a medical emergency, so it’s important to contact your pediatrician right away if your child develops signs of heat illness that don’t improve quickly once moving them to a cool environment.
