Betsy McCanse, CNM, has been in the “birth world” since 2003. She started her journey as a childbirth educator teaching Bradley classes, became certified as a doula through DONA, Int in 2005, and then started her trek to become a Certified Nurse Midwife through the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has been practicing as a midwife in the Goshen area since 2013, providing full-scope midwifery care for women across their reproductive lifespans. Over the years she has served women at Goshen Birth Center, Goshen Hospital, Blessed Beginnings Care Center and at homes. She has guided over 600 babies and has provided labor support to those families and many others whose babies have been caught by students or ended up with cesareans. Additionally, Betsy has taken a course in Mayan Abdominal Massage Self-Care, and has certifications in K-taping for pregnancy/postpartum and clinical homeopathy. She is passionate about holding the space for women, to enable birth to be an empowering experience, and in taking part in shared decision making in healthcare throughout women’s lives. She finds year-round joy in blues and swing dancing, and tent camping in the warm months.

Cami (Miller) Ta and Binh Ta are pleased to announce the birth of their son at home. He was born on April 3, 2026 at 6:35 am. He weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and was 19.75 inches long. Cami brought together a good birth team to support her through the tough parts of labor, and Cami worked well through hard moments and was even keeled throughout. It was a pleasure to be with this family as they grow their family. Congratulations, Ta family!

Lauren Sauers and Corey Roberts of Granger are pleased to announce the homebirth of son Cassian William Roberts. Cass was born on March 27, 2026 at 2:50am. He weighed 10 pounds, 10 ounces and was 22.5 inches long. Lauren worked hard and stuck with it even with it being so different from her first labor. It was a pleasure to be with this family again. Evan and Brianna LeVasseur of Constantine are happy to announce the birth of son Ryker Kai LeVasseur. Ryker was born on March 31, 2026 at 7:24am at Blessed Beginnings Care Center. He weighed 9 pounds, 11 ounces and was 21 inches long. Ryker joins siblings Huntleigh and Jamison. Brianna kept herself well informed in pregnancy with an even-keeled approach to the information and was intuitive in her laboring, with excellent support from Evan. Nicholas and Cassie (Mast) Hochstetler of Nappanee are excited to announce the birth of son Peter Andrew Hochstetler. Peter was born on April 11, 2026 at Blessed Beginnings Care Center at 1:33am. He weighed 7 pounds 7.4 ounces and was 20 inches long. Cassie worked hard at home and at the birth center, and Nicholas was great support throughout. Peter joins big brothers Noah and George.
