Its getting close to time for the Boogy Blood Drive!!

I love that we get to do this and help others! Boogy has needed more blood and platelet transfusions in her short life than most people will ever have in their lifetime. To know that people like you selflessly donated so she can be replenished makes my heart feel something that I can't even put into words!

Please share so those who can donate, can get in the halloween spirit and donate some blood!

"We went to her primary care doctor and he immediately life-flighted us four hours away to a children’s hospital." That same night, Visalia was diagnosed with B-Cell ALL.

Boogy finally made counts this week! She shot up to 1300!

Restarting chemo after a hold means starting at 50% of what her dose was that she was taking. She was only at 50% of her therapeutic level because her body isn't wanting more than that. So technically she is now at 25% for the next two weeks. Then we'll try to get her back to 50%

Enjoy this pic of her ladybug habitat! She loves bugs, reptiles, all kinds of creepy crawlies but right now she can't play with any of those things, so she got creative thanks to Emma who helped her make some bugs 🧡

Boogy had her labs checked again today since she was so low last week. Unfortunately she dropped off even further. She's at 310, so she is officially on a chemo hold. We'll continue weekly checks until she's up enough to start chemo again.

A lot of times when she's low, you look at the monocytes to see if they're high. Our NP Mary likes to call them the little soldiers that come in and build you back up, so you want to see this number high. Unfortunately, again, her monocytes aren't high yet. So this tells us she's not going up quite yet. It can change very quickly though, hopefully in the next few days those soldiers come in and start working on her!

Thank you for listening to me through another year of childhood cancer awareness month. I know everything seems to fight for your attention and awareness and I know those things can be heavy to think about.

Going into Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I know everything will be pink, as it should be, I just want you to think about what it might look like for our children each September to see everything gold for them.

Every time our kids see a gold ribbon for childhood cancer, or orange for Leukemia, they get so excited, and say, its a Boogy ribbon! When we see pink they say its for our beautiful angel Lizz 💗

The last day of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Boogy's neutrophils decided to tank. These are the numbers that show us her immunity levels. 500 and under is neutropenic and extremely high risk of infection. She's at 580. Theraputically they want her 750 to 1300. Thats where her chemo is supposed to keep her. Its ok, she just has to be more careful about germs. If she gets a fever when under 500 that means an instant flight to her clinic. We'll have her rechecked next week to just keep an eye on it. Under 500 she has to have a chemo hold till her numbers come up.
