Love From the Heart

Today, we mourn the loss of a true American treasure, Dolly Parton. 💔

Dolly’s music touched generations, but her legacy reaches far beyond her incredible voice and songwriting. She had a remarkable ability to look beyond the things that can divide us—ability, color, race, political beliefs, religious beliefs, background, or circumstance—and see the person underneath it all.

She chose kindness. She chose compassion. She chose to love people right where they were.

And that is something we deeply believe in at Overtones Music Therapy.

We believe every person has a story, a voice, and something valuable to share. We strive to look beyond limitations and labels and meet each person with dignity, acceptance, and genuine love.

Because at the end of the day, music reminds us of something Dolly understood so beautifully:

We are all human beings who want to be seen, heard, valued, and loved.

That’s what we stand for at Overtones Music Therapy.

I was somehow left off the schedule at one of my regular sites yesterday. It was so beautiful to see these seniors go around knocking on doors saying “Lindy is here!”. They rallied a big group for Music Therapy!

Music therapy isn’t just for the client—it’s often for the family, too.

During a recent memory care session, a son joined his mother as we sang, played instruments, and moved scarves together. Watching her engage with the music brought tears to his eyes and joy to both of them.

Moments like these remind me that music creates connection, not only for those living with memory loss, but for the people who love them. 🎵

Some people enter our lives and leave fingerprints on our hearts forever. Today I reunited with one of my memory care clients after two months apart, and the moment she saw me, she cried tears of joy. In a world where memories can fade, connection still finds a way to shine through.

There are certain souls we meet that feel instantly familiar — like soul sisters somehow finding each other again. I’m endlessly grateful for the beautiful reminder today that love, music, connection, and human presence can reach places words sometimes cannot.
