I know it’s been a minute…but here’s a fresh for you. Now I must warn you, tonight’s bar is not like the other ones I’ve posted. I’ve been at work today and unless you’ve been under a rock…the highest court in the land just did the unthinkable. The only thing that resonated with me while reading about it was one of the nastiest speeches delivered by none other than Malcolm X. This speech, “The Ballot or The Bullet” hit me like a ton of bricks today. I’ve read it many times but today…today was heavy. I realized that there are moments where a people either recognize what’s shifting…
or realize later they let it shift around them (stay close). Malcolm warned us that there are years that carry weight…where delay isn’t neutral, it’s costly.😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨When access to the vote is weakened or made uncertain, that’s not a technical glitch…it’s a signal🤌🏽🤌🏽 If access is under pressure attention must increase, why? Because disengagement doesn’t freeze outcomes…it lets them move without you😞😞. Say what you want about Malcolm but, he was clear: not reckless action, not provocation, but the right to protect dignity and community when protection feels uneven. Right now in this moment, that looks like lawful, disciplined engagement: knowing your rights, using them, showing up with intention🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽. 🗣️🗣️We must protect what matters while participating where it counts! Understand this, discipline is power…but presence is protection (that’s a whole word). I’m fitna say this with my whole chest…🗣️Stop pouring loyalty into places that don’t produce results🗣️.
Understand this…Not every system deserves your silence and not every leader deserves your trust‼️ If it doesn’t serve your community…stop serving it your energy🤌🏽🤌🏽. Control your participation, your information, your choices…or those choices get made for you. My prayer for tonight is simply this…God, give us clarity in a moment that demands it. Discipline to act with wisdom, and the courage to stay engaged without losing peace. Keep us anchored…and awake. ✌🏽✌🏽

Tonight’s comes by way of the book of Jude. You ever hear that one verse and you immediately remember what God has done for you? The text says, “Now unto Him, who is able to keep you from falling. And to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. To the only wise god our Savior, be glory and majesty; dominion and power…”
It’s only four months into the new year…some of us are still here and we don’t even fully know how. Not because we got everything right…not because we were always strong….not because we never had moments where we almost lost it. 🗣️We’re here because God kept us🗣️🗣️ Somewhere between the tears, the pressure, the silent battles, and the days we just showed up because we had to…God was doing what only He could do🙏🏽This whole time, it wasn’t on us…it was on Him🤌🏽🤌🏽It’s wild because while we were trying to hold it together,
God never lost His grip😮‍💨😮‍💨. As a matter of fact, He never needed our strength to begin with. He just needed our yes, even if it was shaky.

If I can be fully transparent, there were moments I didn’t feel stable…moments I questioned myself and moments I didn’t even recognize the version of me I had become😢 Then I realized that I may have lost my balance …BUT I DIDN’T LOSE GOD🏃🏽‍♀️
I’m gonna hold your hand with a napkin and a piece of Tula’s fried fish when I say this…being kept doesn’t mean you never struggled, it means you were guarded while you did (Talk Johnson)! Ironically, that’s the part we don’t always shout about. God didn’t remove every hard moment….he didn’t cancel every breakdown…he didn’t stop every tear from falling. 🗣️He just made sure none of it took me out🗣️🗣️(I just quickened)

Stay with me because here’s where grace really starts to speak…‼️God doesn’t just keep us through it…He carries us beyond it‼️ He doesn’t present a version of us that’s broken, ashamed, and barely acceptable…Nahhh…He presents us covered…whole…and redeemed🙌🏽🙌🏽. Understand this…God presents who He covered, not who we used to be. And the wild part? He’s not doing it reluctantly…he’s not tolerating our journey.
He’s not annoyed with our process. He’s doing it with joy! Check this out..God celebrates what He kept(where’s that shoe throwing emoji).
Let that marinate in your Shondo for a minute😌😌 The same you that cried...the same you that doubted…the same you that almost gave up (yall don’t know when to shout) He looks at you with joy♥️♥️♥️
So tonight, we don’t end with pressure… “try harder.” or “get it together.”
We end with truth and it’s simply this…I didn’t hold on…HE held ME🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
And if He kept you through that…He will surely keep you through this✌🏽✌🏽

A fresh for …

As we get closer and closer to Sunday…there is something about Maundy Thursday
that will humble you if you let it. Tonight isn’t loud…It isn’t dramatic in the way we often expect. It’s intimate…It’s heavy and It’s holy.
It is the kind of night where love sits at the same table as betrayal…and doesn’t flinch.

So walk with me for a minute…In Luke 22:19–21, Jesus is at the table with His disciples. He takes bread…he gives thanks...he breaks it…he gives it. And then He says: “This is my body given for you…”
GIVEN…😮‍💨 Not seized…not stolen…not taken from HIM against HIS will…GIVEN.

That means even in the shadow of the cross,
Jesus is not powerless…He is surrendered!
I’m gonna hold your hand with a Cadbury Chocolate Easter egg when I say this…Some of the things that broke you did not catch God by surprise(yall don’t know when to shout). And then, almost without warning,
the text shifts and the text says, “But the hand of him who is going to betray me
is with mine on the table.”🧐🧐That line resonated with me because Jesus is not at a distance from betrayal. Betrayal is close enough to touch Him…close enough to dip with Him…close enough to sit in the same sacred space. And still… He stays at the table (I just quickened). You see it takes oil to stay seated when you can feel betrayal in the room🥶🥶.

That is what makes this night holy. Jesus is fully aware. He knows who will betray Him…he knows who will deny Him…he knows who will fall asleep instead of pray. And yet He does not withhold Himself😮‍💨. He still breaks bread…he still pours and He still gives🙏🏽.
If yall never read another anchorbar, please remember this. ‼️Real maturity is not losing your posture just because you lost your illusions‼️ Watch this…John takes us even deeper. In John 13:4–5, Jesus gets up from the meal, wraps a towel around Himself, and begins washing feet…here’s where it get interesting because He’s not just washing Peter’s feet…he’s not just washing John’s feet…HE’S washing Judas’ feet too(where is my shoe throwing emoji?!?).The feet of the one already carrying betrayal in his heart. Jesus kneels anyway...🥺🥺

He touched what was about to wound Him. And that right there…that’s where a lot of us would have dipped out ✌🏽We would have drawn a line...shifted they way we were sitting in our chair...and made bail arrangements cause what we not fitna do is this🤨.But Jesus does not become less who He is because someone else has chosen
to be less than what they should be(inserts Baptist stank face). Listen…Don’t let who did you wrong talk you out of who God called you to be🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️. Maundy Thursday is not just about communion…it’s about consecration…it’s about what it looks like to remain submitted when you know pain is already in motion😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨.
To remain tender when you can feel the shift…to remain obedient when love is about to cost you everything😮‍💨😮‍💨. We have not been anointed to react to everything we discern‼️. Some things God lets us see
are not for exposure…They’re for posture(Talk Johnson). Not everything we discern is meant to be announced🗣️🗣️.
Some things are meant to be carried in prayer…held with restraint and to teach us
how to stay low and submitted without becoming passive or blind❤️. When God has steadied your spirit, you don’t have to announce what you know…maybe that’s what makes the table so weighty😢😢. You see the table will reveal you…it will show you whether your love is deep or just convenient...whether your humility is real
or only present when it’s easy(cuuud). Whether you can stay near when everything in you wants to recoil 🥺. The cross may be public, BUT the table is personal (sheesh).
Before Jesus carried the cross, He sat at the table. He served…He lowered Himself and
He stayed tender in the presence of what could have made Him hard. Please know this…Betrayal in the room does not cancel the assignment on your life✌🏽❤️
