Not all teleMFM programs are built the same.

Technology is essential—but what happens after the connection is made matters just as much.

Feedback from two of our California partner hospitals highlights the value of continuity, collaboration, and dedicated physician teams that become part of the hospital's care environment over time.

As Preeclampsia Awareness Month comes to a close, it's important to recognize the role early detection, timely intervention, and specialized care play in improving outcomes for mothers and babies.

Preeclampsia and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy remain a leading cause of maternal and infant illness and death. For hospitals managing high-risk pregnancies, timely access to maternal-fetal medicine expertise can directly influence care planning, fetal monitoring, and critical treatment decisions.

On our blog, we explore why access to maternal-fetal medicine matters—and how teleMFM can help support patients and care teams when it matters most.

Too many families are being put in a financial bind at the exact moment they’re preparing to bring a new baby into the world.

For patients in rural or underserved communities, accessing maternal-fetal medicine can mean hours of travel, missed work, childcare challenges, and lost income—and that's just for a single appointment. When high-risk pregnancies require frequent follow-up, that burden only grows.

We're aiming to reduce those barriers by bringing specialized care closer to home.

Watch as Dr. Tiffany Tonismae shares why expanding access to high-risk pregnancy care has remained such an important focus throughout her career.

Today is .

Preeclampsia remains one of the leading causes of maternal complications worldwide, affecting between 5-15% of all pregnancies worldwide.

Early intervention can make a huge difference in outcomes for both mother and baby—but what happens when it's out of reach?

TeleMFM helps connect hospitals and frontline clinicians with maternal-fetal medicine specialists in real time, supporting earlier recognition of risk factors, faster collaboration, and stronger care for high-risk pregnancies.

What becomes possible when geography is no longer a barrier to maternal-fetal medicine?

In a single day, Dr. Jeff Chapa supported high-risk patients in Washington, California, Mississippi, and New York—all remotely from Cleveland, Ohio.

For hospitals facing growing workforce shortages and increasing demand for specialty care, teleMFM is creating new ways to expand access and support local care teams in real time.

May is National Preeclampsia Awareness Month.

Preeclampsia is one of the leading causes of maternal and neonatal complication, and it can escalate quickly, often without obvious warning signs. The difference between a manageable condition and a life-threatening emergency often comes down to early detection and timely intervention.

But early detection isn’t possible without access. Across the U.S., too many patients still face barriers to consistent prenatal care and specialty support—especially in communities with limited maternal-fetal medicine resources.

Raising awareness is critical. So is continuing to expand access to the expertise that helps identify and manage high-risk pregnancies before they become emergencies.

At this year’s Becker’s Healthcare Annual Meeting, one message stood out.

The question is no longer if telehealth has a place in maternal care delivery, but how it can be implemented effectively, sustainably, and at scale.

Healthcare leaders are focused on how to scale and sustain solutions that expand access, support care teams, and deliver measurable outcomes.

In partnership with Teladoc Health, we demonstrated how teleMFM works in practice—and why it’s becoming a core part of care delivery.

Here’s what we’re hearing: https://obtelecare.com/what-we-heard-at-beckers-key-takeaways-on-telemedicine-from-healthcare-leaders/
