Today, we’re proud to recognize HearingLife , located in the Queensgate Shopping Center in York, for taking an important step on their journey to becoming a more dementia-friendly business!

Hearing and brain health are closely connected. Research has shown that untreated hearing loss is one of the most significant modifiable risk factors for cognitive decline and dementia. When hearing becomes more difficult, the brain must work harder to process sounds, which can contribute to increased cognitive load, social isolation, and reduced engagement in meaningful conversations and activities.

By committing to dementia-friendly practices, HearingLife is helping create an environment where individuals living with dementia and their care partners feel understood, supported, and empowered. Their dedication to improving communication, accessibility, and awareness makes a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.

Thank you, HearingLife, for joining the movement to build a more dementia-friendly community. Together, we can increase understanding, reduce stigma, and create places where everyone feels valued and included.

“Don’t you remember?”
“We already talked about this.”
“No, that’s not what happened.”

Sometimes we say things like this without realizing they can increase frustration, confusion, or anxiety for someone living with dementia.

The good news is that small changes in communication can make a big difference.

Join YCCF and Dementia Friendly York/Adams June 9th for a free, interactive Dementia Friends information session and learn simple, practical ways to better support people living with dementia and the families who care for them.

On Tuesday, The Law Office of Amanda Snoke Dubbs took an important step in becoming more dementia-friendly by participating in a Dementia Friends session led by Alison Sprankle . Although Amanda herself has been a Dementia Friend for several years, she wanted her team to experience the same!

Through education and understanding, they are helping create a more compassionate and supportive community for individuals living with dementia and their care partners.

From legal planning to everyday interactions, awareness matters. Thank you for your commitment to reducing stigma, increasing understanding, and making a difference right here in our community! 🧠✨
