Congratulations to Taosies, who was recently received the Student Volunteer of the Year award from the Children’s Advocacy Alliance! Taosies is pictured with Act4Kids Nevada board member, Kate 💙

He was nominated by the Nevada Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics for his advocacy during the 2025 legislative session. In his acceptance speech, he shared his passion for volunteering with Act4Kids and helping more young people learn that they can use their voices to advocate for positive change.

We love seeing young leaders step up, speak out, and inspire others to do the same. Congratulations—we’re so proud of you! 👏💙

Brandon shares the incredible benefit of freestanding children’s hospitals- how valuable they are to a community, and how they bring more access to families who are able to go to them!

Act4Kids Nevada’s mission is to advocate for more comprehensive healthcare for kids in our state. We started in 2023 by advocating for a freestanding children’s hospital, and are grateful Intermountain Children’s Health is answering the call with the Nevada Children’s Hospital planning to open in 2030. We know this is a piece in a larger statewide ecosystem and continue to advocate for organizations working together and continue to rise for the benefit of all children in our state!

Thank you to Intermountain Children’s Health for inviting families to participate in a Behavioral Health Focus Group. We appreciate the opportunity to share our experiences and their willingness to listen to the challenges families face when accessing care.

From autism and eating disorders to depression and anxiety, behavioral health encompasses a wide range of needs. Many families continue to feel under-supported as they navigate a fragmented system. We are hopeful these conversations will lead to meaningful improvements and a stronger focus on the mental and behavioral health of children and teens 👏

This spring, we hosted a Family Engagement Workshop in Southern Nevada. It was a delight gathering together to learn to advocate for our children’s healthcare needs. Check out the recap video👏

We are thrilled to announce on October 3, 2026, we will be hosting a Northern Nevada Family Engagement Workshop from 1:00 - 5:00 pm at the Innevation Center at UNR. Registration will be open on September 1st.
