Meet Avoider.
Avoider isn't lazy.
She isn't unmotivated.
And she isn't trying to keep you stuck.
She's trying to keep you safe.
Sometimes Avoider shows up when we're invited somewhere new.
Sometimes she appears when we think about starting a class, changing a habit, speaking up, or taking a chance on ourselves.
She often sounds reasonable:
• "Maybe when things calm down."
• "Maybe when I have more energy."
• "Maybe when I'm more confident."
• "Maybe later."
The challenge is that sometimes "later" becomes months or even years.
Avoider usually learned her job for a reason. Maybe criticism, embarrassment, failure, or disappointment taught us that staying small felt safer than taking risks.
The goal isn't to fight Avoider.
The goal is to help the nervous system feel safe enough to take one small step.
Because growth rarely happens all at once.
It happens one conversation, one class, one invitation, and one brave step at a time.
✨ Do you recognize Avoider in yourself?
