To help our kupuna prepare for Hurricane Lowell, Catholic Charities Hawai‘i teamed up with Lanakila Pacific and the Honolulu City & County, Department of Community Services this week to deliver free, pre-cooked meals to several senior housing apartment buildings.
Approximately 20 seniors residing at the Artesian Vista apartment building in McCully and another 16 seniors at the Kalakaua Vista apartments in Waikiki received the free meals. Staff from Catholic Charities Hawai‘i and the City Department of Community Services’ Elderly Affairs Division and WorkHawai’i Division delivered the ready-to-serve meals and side dishes prepared by Lanakila Pacific’s Meals on Wheels program.
“We want to ensure that our kupuna remain safe and nourished with the anticipated stormy weather,” said Catholic Charities Hawai‘i president and CEO Tina Andrade. “We are grateful to the Honolulu City & County’s Elderly Affairs Division and Lanakila Pacific Meals on Wheels program for their help in caring for our seniors during these situations.”
