Could hyperactivity be a sign of poor sleep? Children who aren't sleeping well may not always look tired. Instead, they can become more hyperactive, impulsive, irritable, or have difficulty focusing. Snoring, mouth breathing, restless sleep, frequent night waking, and insufficient sleep can all affect daytime behavior and learning. Because poor sleep can sometimes look like ADHD-like symptoms, it's important to look beyond behavior and ask: "Is this child getting the restorative sleep they need?"
