Compassionate Pet Parent
This month’s spotlight is on Susan. She was born in L.A. California, then moved to Kansas when she was 5. She attended schools in the Overland Park area with her two brothers and one sister, before moving to the Chicago area in the mid 90’s. Her love of animals started at an early age growing up with four Sheltie dogs, two Cockatiels, six parakeets and now her beloved dog, Sprout. She also fondly remembers roller skating with her baby sister, in their teens. Susan worked a variety of jobs before coming to live in our community, including McDonald’s, Furr’s Cafeteria, two nursing homes in Kansas, and retail stores in Chicago. She was even a “movie extra” in a few films! When she found herself needing to find a different place to live due to medical issues, she did a lot of research before finding Deer Path. Since she loves to socialize, she found the residents here were easy to talk to and she loves the wide variety of activities offered here. She keeps herself busy volunteering as part of the “Welcome Committee” and other activities and also hopes to be on the Resident Council someday. Susan describes herself as “compassionate and understanding” and is more than happy to sit and chat with new or current residents or staff.
