slow, steady, confident, primal
first time mom. absolutely unreal.
read her story, watch her power.
“Going the alternative and natural route for my pregnancy and birth was not easy. The decision itself was a no brainer but the responsibility it took-required a level of discipline and mental fortitude that cracked me open. I had very minimal doctors appointments and chose to listen to my intuition on how me and my baby were doing. I really focused on getting adequate minerals and nutrients in my pregnancy and I really think that was a game changer.
I went into active labor around 10pm Friday the 19th. It was just me and my husband for the next 9 hours-I was moaning, groaning and moving through the contractions. My husband texted Beth to come around 7am Saturday morning. Expierencing labor unmedicated and physiologically was the most spiritual experience I’ve ever gone through. It was like I was meeting and releasing parts of myself that no longer serve me over and over again with each contraction. The thing that helped me push past any feelings of not being able to do it anymore was going over and over in my head my strong “why’s”as to why I was choosing this path.
Beth was a solid, grounded support for me. She sat as a silent “fly on the wall” and knew exactly when to leave the room and when to be there for me when I needed her.
Baby boy came out with a nuchal cord-me and my husband asked Beth to catch him so she was the one to unwrap that and hand him to me. Other than that, she was completely hands off and I am so eternally grateful for her wealth of knowledge and care. I was making low guttural sounds for most of my labor up until the end as you can hear in the video. I have never heard myself make these sounds before lol. But as soon as I felt his head I let myself quite literally scream him out-I was full on tongue out, feral mode but that’s exactly what my body needed to do.
Azariah was born surrounded by love and comfort. 💕”
