A dog cannot solve every hard day, but a wagging tail can certainly brighten it. Dogs can enrich daily life with companionship, movement, routine, and moments of play. A morning walk gets you outside. A feeding schedule creates structure. A familiar face at the door can make home feel less empty. ♥

Dogs can also make it easier to connect with other people. Regular walks often lead to greetings from neighbors, conversations at the park, and a stronger sense of belonging. Even a short outing can provide a break from screens and a small feeling of accomplishment.

Of course, pet ownership is not the right fit for everyone. Dogs require time, training, suitable housing, and money for food and veterinary care. The best match supports both the person's well-being and the animal's needs. Volunteering, fostering, or walking a friend's dog may offer connection without a long-term commitment.

How does your dog improve your life? If you are reviewing health coverage, we can help you understand behavioral health benefits.

📣Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period is here! The enrollment window is from October 15 through December 7.

During this time, you can:

➡️ Enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan

➡️ Switch between Medicare Advantage and Original Medicare

➡️ Join, drop, or change a Part D prescription drug plan

Even if you’re satisfied with your current coverage, it’s important to review your plan and compare your options each year. Plan costs, benefits, provider networks, and drug formularies can change from one year to the next, and your own health care needs may change, too.

You don’t have to navigate your options on your own. Contact us to schedule an Medicare review meeting. We are here to help you!

Driving, delivering, freelancing, consulting, creating. Millions of Americans work as independent contractors.

None of it comes with a benefits package.

If you work for yourself, you are your own HR department. Finding a health insurance plan is usually not the hardest part. It is that coverage decisions assume you know what you will earn this year, and gig income rarely cooperates. Estimate your income too low and you could owe money back at tax time. Estimate too high and you paid more every month than you needed to.

One more thing people forget. If you recently left a traditional job, you did not just lose the health plan. You likely lost dental, vision, disability coverage, and a life insurance policy you may not have known you had. For anyone whose income depends on being physically able to work, that disability piece matters.

Open enrollment for individual coverage opens in early November, so now is the time to sort it out. Want help comparing your options? Reach out. There is no cost to talk.

Medicare & Assisted Living: What’s Covered vs. Not

✅ Covers (short-term, medical):
• Skilled Nursing Facility (up to 100 days)
• Home health (doctor-ordered)
• Medical services while in assisted living
• Hospice care

❌ Doesn’t Cover:
• Custodial help (bathing, dressing, eating)
• Room & board in assisted living
• Long-term nursing home stays for daily living needs
• Assisted living as a skilled care setting

✨ Planning ahead = more options. Consider long-term care insurance, Medicaid, savings strategies, or hybrid policies.

The best time to plan? NOW. And we’re here to help every step of the way.

A week-long hospital stay can cost you thousands of dollars out of pocket, even with Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan. Daily copayments, deductibles, and cost-sharing add up fast when you’re hospitalized.

Hospital indemnity insurance is a great solution. A plan pays you cash benefits directly for a hospital stay, so you're not forced to drain your savings. Benefits go straight to you and can be used for any expense: copays or deductibles, lost income, household bills, or recovery costs.

Wondering if it's right for you? Let's talk about your coverage needs and find the right plan.

If your back hurts in the morning and loosens up once you are moving, your mattress may need a second look. A bed will not cure a back problem, and anyone promising that is selling too hard. But it can make a difference that a lot of people notice within a couple of weeks.

Before you start shopping, there are a few good things to keep in mind. The old advice about needing the firmest bed available has softened considerably. If it’s too firm, your hips and shoulders take all the pressure. If it’s too soft, you sink until your spine spends eight hours in a shape it does not care for. Most people need to land somewhere in the middle.

Test any candidate properly. A quick minute on your back with your shoes on tells you nothing. Lie down the way you actually sleep, for ten or fifteen minutes, then get up the way you get up at home. And importantly, read the return policy before the price tag. Paying more can be well worth it if you have the option to return it after 30 days if it’s not a good fit.

One more thing. If your pain is severe, getting worse, or waking you up regularly, that is a doctor conversation, not a showroom conversation. Questions about what your plan covers when back pain becomes a bigger issue? Call our office. We are glad to walk through it.

Here's a question worth thinking about: Do you know how long your retirement savings need to last?

Most people don't, and that uncertainty is one of the biggest sources of financial stress in retirement. You want to enjoy your savings, but you also don't want to run out. So you hold back. You second-guess. You worry.

That's exactly the problem a Deferred Income Annuity (DIA) is designed to solve. With a DIA, you contribute a portion of your savings today in exchange for a guaranteed income stream that kicks in at a future date you choose and continues for the rest of your life, no matter how long that is.

Think of it as your own personal pension. No market risk. No fees. Just reliable income when you need it most.

If you have questions or want to explore whether a DIA fits your plan, reach out. We're happy to walk you through your options.
