Check out our newest tipsheet: Supporting Children & Teens Through Funerals and Memorial Services.
As adults, most of us have been to a funeral or memorial service before, but for your child or teen, this might be their very first time. It’s natural to have a lot of questions about whether they should go and how they can be involved. We hope this Tip Sheet helps answer some of those questions and gives you a few ideas for how to support them as they find their own way to honor the person who died.

Death Cafe Heartland Yoga

Death Cafe @ Heartland
Wednesday, July 8th @ 4 - 6 pm

A Death Cafe is an informal occasion to eat cake, drink tea and talk about death.

At a death cafe, expect to discuss your understanding, thoughts, dreams, fears and any other aspects of death and dying. Some Death Cafes have specifically created an opportunity for health-care professionals to talk about death. This helps “to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives”. The open-ended discussions also provide an avenue to express thoughts about one’s own life stirred up by the death or diagnosis of a family member.

Join Death Doula, Kimberly Jaeger-Arjes, to explore these conversations and move from a death phobic to a death positive culture, where we embrace each other in real time and prioritize the way we live.

This is a free event. Please RSVP by emailing [email protected].
