One of the biggest misconceptions about brain aging? That cognitive decline is simply inevitable. 🧠

Some changes may become more common with age, but that doesn’t mean every change should be written off as “just getting older.”

From memory and focus to sleep, learning, exercise, and genetics, there’s more to healthy brain aging than many people realize.

As Dr. Amen says, “You are not stuck with the brain you have. You can make it better.”

Comment BRAIN and we’ll send you our free Brain Health Assessment to discover your brain type + personalized ways to support it.

Getting older doesn’t mean slowing down or feeling less like yourself.

Healthy aging is about protecting the things that help you keep doing what you love. Staying active, prioritizing quality sleep, eating well, managing stress, and taking care of your brain all add up over time.

The goal isn’t to fight your age. It’s to support your brain and body at every age so you can keep showing up for your life.

🤍 Comment LONGEVITY and we’ll send you our free Brain Health Assessment, healthy aging recommendations, plus an exclusive offer on our brain health essentials.

Your brain ages every day, but how it ages is influenced by more than the number of candles on your birthday.

One concept Dr. Daniel Amen often talks about is brain reserve, the idea that supporting your brain throughout life may help it become more resilient to challenges.

Researchers study related concepts called brain reserve and cognitive reserve to better understand why some people maintain stronger cognitive function than others as the brain ages or encounters pathology.

And research suggests that continuing to challenge your brain matters.

In the Synapse Project, older adults spent months actively learning demanding new skills such as digital photography. The high-challenge learning groups showed improvements in episodic memory compared with groups doing less cognitively demanding activities.

The good news? Challenging your brain can be fun.

Play a racket or paddle sport like tennis, pickleball, or ping pong. Try a crossword. Learn photography. Take a dance class. Pick up a language. Learn something you’ve always wanted to know.

Keep moving. Keep learning. Keep challenging your brain.

And what your brain and body need may evolve as you age. Research suggests biological aging isn’t always a slow, steady process, with significant changes occurring around the mid-40s and again around age 60.

That’s one reason we’re taking a closer look at how to support brain health at different stages of life.

Your brain’s history is not your destiny.

Your brain may be aging faster than you realize. 🧠

After looking at more than 300,000 brain SPECT scans, our brain imaging work has revealed that blood flow and activity in the brain tend to decline with age, and changes can begin long before serious memory problems appear.

But cognitive decline is not something you should simply accept as part of getting older.

Protecting blood flow, reducing inflammation, exercising, and getting the right nutrients are all important parts of supporting your brain as it ages.

Breaking up is hard to do... especially when it’s with your afternoon coffee. ☕️

But if one cup keeps turning into two (or three), it might be time to rethink the relationship.

Caffeine can make you feel less tired by temporarily blocking the signals that tell your brain you’re tired. But supporting your body’s natural energy production? That’s a different story.*

Ready to move on from caffeine? We might know just the thing. 👀 Comment ENERGY and we’ll send you the details.

Feeling exhausted all the time isn’t something you should just accept. Your brain and body may be telling you something needs attention.

And another cup of coffee probably isn’t the real solution.

There are common reasons behind persistent fatigue and brain fog that are often overlooked, and understanding what’s draining your energy is the first step toward improving it.
