CORAL DREAMS 🧜‍♀️

"This collection from my art quilts was inspired by my husband's love of underwater photography. The coral reefs are designed from some of his Caribbean dives over the years.

My quilts begin with the fabric backgrounds, and once sewn down, the fun begins with the embellishments. The embellishments form the quilting for the project. Everything is hand sewn down from the large shells and glass pieces to the tiniest of beads.

As Michael and I traveled, I collected fabrics, beads, shells, rocks, fibers whenever and where ever I was to add to my "stash" for creating the quilts. I like to particularly add embellishments to the quilt I am working on during each trip.

Each piece is an organic process, so as I begin I'm not sure what the end product will become. Each step inspires the next. It takes about 400 hours to complete each quilt."
