Opening a jar is easy...until it isn’t.

Most lids depend on grip strength and wrist torque, which can make them difficult for people with arthritis, limited hand strength, limb differences, injuries, or anyone using one hand.

That’s why tools like mounted jar openers (which hold the lid in place) and electric openers (which do the twisting for you) exist. There's also ones with handles (as shown) that decrease the amount of torque you need.

They’re a simple reminder that everyday tasks become more accessible when tools are designed for different ways people use their hands.

What other household tasks are harder than they should be?

When most people hear the word "accessibility," they think about permanent disabilities. But accessibility matters just as much during life's temporary challenges.

A broken wrist. Shoulder surgery. A sprained thumb. Recovering from an injury. Holding a newborn. Carrying groceries. There are countless moments when using both hands or maintaining a strong grip isn't possible.

That's why thoughtful design benefits everyone. Products that are easier to use don't just support one community. They make everyday life more manageable for anyone facing a temporary or long-term limitation.

At SnapSlide, we think accessibility should be part of everyday products from the start, not something added later. Because whether a challenge is short or long, easier access can make a real difference.

Have you ever had an injury or life situation that made everyday tasks unexpectedly difficult? Share your experience in the comments.
