I’ve been seeing a lot of families with ties. Posterior ties. That other providers are dismissing them by saying there’s nothing there, your baby doesn’t have ties. But then we continue to work on feeding and the mom is in pain and compression is happening. And transfer is low. And all the red flags on top of me showing them the posterior tissue during exam. And people still want to text me and say well the pediatrician said there’s no tie. Or an ENT said there’s nothing there. Unfortunately in our area there are not any (unless there’s a hidden gem somewhere I don’t know about) ENT providers well versed in diagnosing and treating ties appropriately. I will link a support group below for families in my area to join to get info on providers and other supportive therapies.

I also like him mentioning time is of the essence. And as much as I try to not “push” families towards release. I wish sometimes you could see what I have seen in my few years of experience to know why I advocate for release.

PSA for my current and future clients about pets.

Quick reminder. You may get my email prior to appointments, and I get we all have email fatigue from what seems like every company sending an email weekly/daily. But there is a section about pets and having them secure for our appointment. (Cats moreso because I’m allergic). Along with some other things to be prepared for our visit together.

I love dogs. I have a pupper that I love to the end of the earth. The thing is, these pups love their family so much and I am seen as a threat. Coming to your door with big bags as a stranger. And a new baby inside that they need to protect. Even the gentlest of doggos can do unexpected things during these times of big change at home.

This is also a reminder to me to stick to my own boundaries. And not enter a house until I know dogs are secure. I was bit in two spots. One breaking skin. Very sore on my calf and a huge lesson learned for me. I don’t blame the dog here. They were protecting their own. And I do put partial blame on myself for not asking for the dog to be put outside or somewhere else so I could enter safely.

So moving forward pets will need to be secure. It will be a hard stop from now on. Even for your gentle lover pups. Thanks so much.

Hey there! Some interesting info on Cows milk protein allergy. Showing the proteins are nearly undetectable 6hours post consumption by mom when milk was tested.

This means usually an elimination diet of dairy will show major improvements in just a few days. Not weeks to months like a lot of people will say. You should see drastic positive changes soon after, with some smaller nuanced symptoms that you may see linger as the proteins leave your babies system.

It’s important to note that CMPA symptoms also overlap a lot of other diagnosis’ and I’ve been finding that a lot of providers quickly tell parents to stop eating dairy and soy. Without any workup other than an occult blood stool sample. Please, please see an IBCLC when you’re having issues like these. So we can help you troubleshoot what your eating and symptoms to see if interventions like elimination diets are actually helping. You could also see a registered dietitian that specializes in infant feeding or is an RD and IBCLC!

And unfortunately I hear it all too much from you mamas. During prenatal appointments. About formula use with your last that ended your journey. Looking for guidance to not have the same story. Or how you got a box of samples but didnt even sign up for. Seeing moms for the first visit. At 2-3 weeks after you were told to use formula to help baby gain, but were never told to pump to protect your supply.
