Can you believe Peach & Nectarine season is already winding down for the year? White peaches and nectarines are finished and we have about 2-3 weeks left for the yellow varieties. This week 20% off peaches and nectarines and we’re sampling them today! I’m sure we have all been enjoying these favorites over the past few months, but we can’t close out the season without one week featuring these summer classics.

This week we are featuring specialty grapes from Northwest family vineyards. On sale and on the sample table today we have three varieties: Jupiter, Interlaken and Reliance. Each one has its own flavor, and the Reliance is a slip-skin grape, meaning the skin pulls away from the fruit as you bite (think Concord). If you like grapes and are ready for something out of the ordinary, today is your day to try something new.

All three varieties are 20% off through Saturday, 9/5 (crazy that it is already almost September). Thomcord and maybe Venus will be joining the sale a little later this week.

Today is the last day of our new crop apple sale and we have one more variety that came available later this week. The Jonagold apple is the best of a Golden Delicious and a Jonathan apple. They were originally developed in Geneva, New York in the 1960s and have been a favorite ever since. They are generally big apples, sweet with just a little tart and very juicy. They also hold their shape when you bake them, so they are great for pie and crisp. Jonagolds are also included in the new crop apple sale today!

We have lots of fun produce this weekend! Dragon’s Tongue Beans are an old Dutch heirloom, pale yellow with purple streaks running down each pod. They almost look hand painted. Like with the purple beans we had last week, the purple disappears the second they hit heat and they will turn solid green. So if you want to keep the color, eat them raw. They are crisp and sweet enough to snack on straight from the bag or slice into a salad. We also got Romanesco Broccoli in. It looks a lot cooler than it tastes. It is like a mild, nutty cauliflower. You can pretty much treat it like a cauliflower for cooking. It is really good roasted or steamed with butter, salt and pepper.
