Happy Labor Day! Today is a day in which we remember and celebrate the American Labor Movement and the work of laborers that make America what it is.

We at Oak Pointe of Kearney want to take this day especially to recognize and thank all of those who work here for what they do to ensure we do all we can to give our residents the best care available. Thank you to the staff at OPK for all you do!

Along with that, there are so many other workers that let us do what we do here like hospice workers, home health workers, visiting doctors, PT and OT therapists, delivery drivers, contracted workers, and so many more. Thank you for all that you contribute to what we do here in your work!

Well we finally got to find out how the sausage gets made…well milk, not sausage, but you get it.

We took a trip out to Shatto Milk Company this morning to see how the milk gets from the cows to our local grocery store. It was a great day to get out and see everything from how the bottles get washed, labeled, and filled to how the milk is made safe to drink.

We also had the pleasure of meeting some of the fine cows that produce that milk you love so much AND some future Shatto milk cows as well.

Of course the highlight of the trip was the milk flight. We got to try milk in the flavor banana, coffee, cotton candy, root beer, and a few other flavors as well as some cheese curds and Shatto butter!

If you’ve never made a trip out there, you’re missing out! We had a ton of fun and are so thankful for the Shatto family and the dairy staff for welcoming our adventurous group!

We had such a great time hosting Chamber Coffee last Friday! It was the perfect morning to connect with our amazing community and enjoy some good conversation. 💙

And because our staff deserves a little extra love, we treated them to a special coffee of their choice as well! 🥰☕️

We had another meeting of great minds! We took a drive to St. Joseph to meet up with Oak Pointe of Maryville for a great lunch!

It was well worth the longer drive to meet up with some other great people who are part of the Oak Pointe family. Just like the last time we all got to visit together, it was easy to click back into place as friends and pick up where we left off a few months ago!

We’re always thankful to be able to celebrate our monthly birthdays and thankful for the help from Interim HealthCare of Kansas City providing cupcakes for it every month! Happy August birthday to Alice, Hilda, Virginia, and Cheryl!
