What people don’t know…
Before AR Healing Arts.
Before the business.
Before the dream of creating a place where people could come to heal…
There was a little boy fighting to survive.
💙 September is NICU Awareness Month.
And this is part of my why.
My baby spent 83 days in the NICU.
83 days of machines.
Tubes.
Monitors.
Alarms.
Watching numbers.
Waiting.
Praying.
Learning words and medical terms I never wanted to know. More then I was taught in nursing school -
Breathing.
Surviving.
And then eventually…
All of it came home with us.
The machines.
The tubes.
The fear.
There were surgeries.
And then surgery after surgery.
But what people don’t always see is what happens after.
The unseen.
The worry that doesn’t just disappear when you leave the hospital.
The heartache.
The trauma.
The PTSD.
The missed phone calls that can make your heart drop into your stomach because you know they could be life-threatening.
The constant high alert.
The fear of illnesses.
The fear of exposure.
The immunocompromised child.
The endless appointments.
The advocating.
The researching.
The exhaustion.
The moments when you look completely fine on the outside… while inside, you’re wondering how much more your heart can carry.
People see the smiles.
They see the milestones.
They see how amazing he is now.
But they don’t always see what it took to get here.
And honestly?
Sometimes I don’t think I realized how much of that journey was still living inside of me until years later.
But then I look at him.
And I see strength.
I see determination.
I see resilience.
I see all the things he has overcome.
And I think…
Wow.
Look at you.
My NICU graduate.
My warrior.
And that is part of my why.
AR Healing Arts wasn’t created because I simply wanted to own a business.
It was created from life.
From experiences.
From watching people we love struggle.
From knowing what it feels like to desperately search for help, support, understanding, answers, and someone who will simply get it.
I wanted to create something different.
A place where people don’t have to explain why things are hard.
A place where children can be themselves.
Where caregivers can breathe.
Where healing isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Where differences aren’t something to fix.
Where the whole person matters.
Because sometimes healing starts with someone saying…
“I see you.”
And meaning it.
So during NICU Awareness Month, I celebrate
83 days.
All the machines.
All the tubes.
All the surgeries.
All the fear.
All the strength.
To my babies :
You have no idea how many people you have helped inspire simply by being you.
I love you more than words could ever explain. 💙
