A simple damp cloth with mild soap is usually the safest way to clean the outside of your oxygen concentrator while helping keep it free from dust and buildup.

Using the right cleaning methods can help protect your equipment and support long-term performance. If you have questions about concentrator care, Performance Home Medical is always here to help.

If your oxygen concentrator seems louder than usual, don’t ignore the change. A change in sound doesn’t always mean something is wrong, but it’s worth having your therapy provider look to keep things running smoothly.

Paying attention to small changes in your equipment can help prevent bigger issues and keep your therapy consistent and comfortable.

Performance Home Medical is here to help.

It may seem like tighter CPAP mask straps would create a better seal, but over tightening can actually distort the cushion and lead to more leaks.

Your mask should rest comfortably against your face with a secure, gentle fit. Small adjustments can often improve both comfort and therapy performance.

If your mask is leaving marks, leaking air, or feeling uncomfortable, our team can help you find a better fit so you can get the most out of your therapy.

Cleaning your cannula regularly is important—but even with proper care, the soft plastic naturally wears over time. As cannulas age, they can become stiff, lose shape, and affect airflow and comfort.

Replacing your cannula on a regular schedule helps keep your oxygen therapy running smoothly and comfortably.

This Nurses Week, we celebrate the nurses who keep patient care at the center of everything they do. They wear a lot of hats, handle many priorities, and never lose focus on what matters most — the patient.

Nurses train the next generation, expand access to care in communities that need it, and show up every day ready to make a difference. Healthcare doesn't work without them.

We're proud to recognize our own nurses — Jill Lucier, Lorna Martin, and Hailey McClenathan — for the work they put in and for always putting Patients First.

Happy Nurses Week!

Keeping your bottle clean helps support your oxygen needs. Use warm water only to rinse and clean your chamber.

Avoid abrasive scrubbers—they can create small scratches where mineral deposits can build up over time.

If you have questions about cleaning or replacing your equipment, Performance Home Medical is here to help you stay on track with your care.

What Patients First Means in Action: Responding Quickly to Support a Patient in Need

At Performance Home Medical, Patients First is more than a statement. It guides how we show up for patients and care teams every day.

Recently, our team was contacted by a pulmonary clinic with an urgent need for a patient who required oxygen to avoid hospital admission.

The team acted immediately. Clinical Liaison Connor McCallum and PHM’s Oxygen Team quickly assessed the situation and coordinated next steps.

In less than 15 minutes, the patient was set up with oxygen, helping ensure they could remain at home. Just as important, the team took the time to walk the patient and their family through the equipment, answering questions and providing support to help them feel confident and comfortable.

The clinic later shared their appreciation, recognizing not only the speed of response, but the level of care and attention provided throughout the process.

Because of this coordinated effort, the patient was able to remain at home, surrounded by family.

This is what Patients First looks like—responding with urgency, working together, and taking the time to deliver care the right way when it matters most.
