East Lake Acupuncture is supporting a wonderful community service project being organized through my sister’s company to benefit New Missions. The goal is to prepare 80 shoeboxes filled with supplies for children in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

📦 FIRST — WE NEED EMPTY SHOEBOXES AND SHOEBOXES FILLED WITH SUPPLIES!

You can help by donating:

📦 Clean, empty shoeboxes with lids
🎁 A shoebox filled with supplies from the attached list for one of the designated age groups
🛍️ A bag or individual items from the supply list — volunteers will use them to complete boxes
🥄 Spoons for children to use for hot lunches at school
💵 Shipping donations — each shoebox costs approximately $10 to ship

Some reviews make us smile, and some make us stop what we’re doing and just sit quietly for a minute. This was one of those reviews.

When I opened East Lake Acupuncture, it wasn’t because I wanted to own a business. It was because I wanted to create a place where people could come when they were hurting and feel like someone was finally listening.

Chronic pain can be incredibly isolating. Many of our patients arrive frustrated, exhausted, discouraged, and feeling like nobody understands what they’re going through. When someone takes the time to write a review like this, it reminds me why I do what I do.

Alligators and Acupuncture

When this gentleman came to our clinic, he had just been told after X-rays and MRI imaging that his foot was “riddled with arthritis” and that there was nothing more that could be done except learn to live with the pain.

His foot was chronically swollen, painful, stiff, and walking was becoming increasingly difficult. For someone who has always been active, that kind of news can feel devastating.

To give him the best chance at taking his life back, we incorporated electroacupuncture along with moxibustion therapy to improve circulation, reduce inflammation, support tissue healing, and help calm chronic pain signaling.

Just a few sessions in, his improvement has already been remarkable, and we anticipate that progress will continue. 👣

Sometimes people are told “nothing can be done” when what they really mean is “nothing else in that setting can be done.”

Moxibustion is a traditional therapy that uses the gentle heat of an herb called mugwort near the acupuncture points to improve circulation, warm the tissues, and support healing and pain reduction naturally.
