When I was teaching, summer was project season. 🌞

Some summers I worked on flower beds. Some summers I painted rooms or cleaned out closets.

One summer, I chose a different project: Running

I started with a Couch-to-5K program and simply followed the plan.

What began as a summer project eventually led to personal records, 5Ks, fun runs, 10Ks, even a Half Marathon, and a greater appreciation for what my body could do.

This summer, consider making your health one of your projects. You don't have to run a race. A daily walk, strength-training routine, stretching plan, or healthier eating habits can all be worthwhile projects.

Small steps really do add up. ☀️🏃‍♀️💪

🦥 Train yourself to say, "I can learn."

Learning doesn't always happen quickly. Sometimes growth looks more like a sloth climbing a tree—slow, steady, and persistent.

Instead of saying: ❌ "I can't do this."

Try saying: ✅ "I can't do this yet, but I can learn."

Every skill, habit, and accomplishment starts with a willingness to learn.

Progress is progress, no matter the pace.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." — Galatians 6:9

This week I passed by the beautiful Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.

Every October, around my birthday, I enjoy attending the Greek Fest. The food and fellowship are wonderful, but my favorite part is stepping inside the church and taking in its beauty.

The artwork, architecture, and atmosphere remind me that God is worthy of our awe and reverence.

📖 "One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after... to behold the beauty of the Lord." — Psalm 27:4

In a busy world, it's good for our spiritual health to pause, reflect, and be reminded of God's greatness.

Sometimes a beautiful church, a quiet sanctuary, or even a moment of stillness can turn our hearts back toward Him. ❤️

🌿☀️ Sometimes self-care is as simple as slowing down and taking a walk.

Nature has a way of quieting the noise, calming the mind, and reminding us to enjoy the journey one step at a time.

💰 Are deliveries costing you money or saving you money?

For me, Aldi delivery is actually saving money because it keeps me off the Aldi Finds aisle. 😄 Shopping online helps me stick to my list and avoid impulse purchases.

Amazon, on the other hand, can be a little dangerous for my budget. It's just too easy to add things to the cart!

One lesson I've learned: Make it easier to buy your needs and harder to buy your wants.

I've learned that what I eat depends on the activity.

🏃‍♀️ Before a run, I usually don't need to eat.

💪 Before a gym workout, a small source of carbs—like an apple—helps give me energy and prevents that weak, shaky feeling. After my workout, I focus on protein to support recovery and muscle repair.

Learning what works best for your body is part of the wellness journey!
