💜 Walking Together for Hope. Standing Together for Life. 💜
In the month of September The Megan Ford Foundation and our community will come together to raise awareness for su***de prevention and to remind every person that they are seen, valued, and never alone.
While su***de affects people of every age, older adults and our nation’s veterans face unique challenges that can increase their risk. Adults aged 65 and older make up about 17% of the U.S. population, but account for 22%-23% of all su***des. For every 4 su***de attempts by older adults 1 ends in death. Older Veterans aged 55 and older make up about 60% of all U.S. Veterans su***des. That is nearly 3,860 deaths annually of all U.S. veterans su***des. Feelings of loneliness, grief, chronic illness, loss of independence, untreated depression, post-traumatic stress, and social isolation can all have a profound impact on mental and emotional well-being.
As a Certified Veteran Safe Place, we are especially committed to honoring and supporting those who have served our country. Our veterans have carried burdens many of us will never fully understand, and they deserve compassion, respect, and a community that stands beside them.
At the same time, we recognize that many seniors quietly struggle with loneliness and depression. A simple phone call, a visit, a conversation, or a helping hand can make a meaningful difference. Sometimes the greatest gift we can give someone is letting them know they are not alone.
Our mission has always been to care for the whole person—with compassion, dignity, and faith. We believe every life has purpose, every story has value, and every person deserves to be treated with love and respect.
“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2 (KJV)
As we participate in this community Su***de Awareness Walk, we walk in memory of those we have lost, in support of those who are struggling, and in hope for a future where no one suffers in silence.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. Asking for help is a sign of strength, and hope is always worth holding on to.
💜 Together, we can make a difference—one conversation, one act of kindness, and one life at a time.
