September is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month 💚

This month, we’re recognizing the strength, resilience, and lived experiences of people with spinal cord injuries, while celebrating the voices that help create greater awareness, connection, and support.

Meet Tyler Wesley, a powerful voice in our PASCO family.

Tyler’s journey with PASCO began with his own spinal cord injury at age 15. That experience sparked his passion for helping others and shaped his commitment to supporting the disability community.

Through community outreach, mentoring, and his work at PASCO, Tyler has built meaningful relationships and connected people with resources and support. His own experience also inspired him to develop a peer mentor program, giving others the hope, guidance, and confidence that helped him thrive.

We’re proud of incredible advocates like Tyler who turn their experiences into opportunities to educate, inspire, and make our communities stronger.

July 26 marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Easy to think it came from Washington, but part of its roots trace right back to Denver.

In 1978, nineteen disability activists blocked two RTD buses at Colfax and Broadway. They wanted something simple: buses they could actually ride. That protest became known as the Gang of 19, and it's considered one of the founding moments of the disability rights movement.

The fight didn't stop with buses. It grew into ADAPT, a national organization that spent over a decade pushing for accessibility, and helped lay the groundwork for the ADA in 1990.
So when we talk about disability pride this month, we're not just celebrating a law. We're celebrating the people who fought for it. Some of them right here in Colorado.

Thirty-six years later, the work isn't finished. But it started with people who refused to
accept ""no.""

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) - a landmark civil rights law that protects the rights of people with disabilities and prohibits discrimination in employment, education, transportation, and public life.

The ADA was made possible by decades of advocacy from individuals who believed everyone deserves equal rights, access, and opportunity.

Thirty-five years later, we celebrate the progress made through the ADA while recognizing that the work isn't finished. We remain committed to advancing inclusion, accessibility, and opportunity for people with disabilities every single day.

As our nation celebrates the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, we wish to honor the landmark law and the movements that lead to its passing.

It was so much fun seeing everyone's face paint masterpieces, balloon animal creations, and smiling faces at this year's PASCO Summer Celebration.

Having the chance to be together with our community is something we are always grateful for. A heartfelt thank you to our PASCO team, whose hard work and commitment made this event possible, and to our incredible community partners for joining us and providing valuable resources to the families we serve.
