A stable chart does not always mean a patient is making progress.
In skilled nursing, some of the earliest signs of decline can show up in function first. A resident may need more assistance with transfers, walk shorter distances, or begin losing independence even when vitals and medications remain unchanged.
That is where physiatry adds another layer of clinical insight!
By focusing on mobility, function, pain, and rehabilitation progress, physiatrists can help identify changes that may otherwise be easy to miss.
Function is not just a rehab measurement. It is part of the clinical picture.
