πŸŽ“ STATE LICENSED vs. ACCREDITED β€” KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BEFORE CHOOSING A SCHOOL

At Compassionate Medical Academy, we believe in educating our students not only about healthcare, but also about what the terminology surrounding their education actually means.

One of the most common questions we receive is:
β€œAre you accredited?”

That is an important question β€” but students should also understand WHY they are asking it and whether accreditation is actually required for the career path they are pursuing.

Being STATE LICENSED and being ACCREDITED are two different things.

βœ… WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO ATTEND A STATE-LICENSED SCHOOL?

A state-licensed private career school has received authorization from its state regulatory agency to legally operate and provide approved career-training programs.
State oversight can include areas such as:

βœ”οΈ Approved programs and curriculum
βœ”οΈ School operations
βœ”οΈ Instructor qualifications
βœ”οΈ Enrollment agreements
βœ”οΈ Tuition and refund policies
βœ”οΈ Attendance and academic policies
βœ”οΈ Student records
βœ”οΈ Consumer protection
βœ”οΈ Reporting and regulatory compliance

In Arkansas, private career schools are licensed through the appropriate state higher-education regulatory process.

State licensure is what gives a private career school the legal authority to operate and offer its approved programs.

πŸ›οΈ SO WHAT IS ACCREDITATION?

Accreditation is a separate process from state licensure.
An accrediting organization evaluates an institution or, in some cases, a specific educational program according to its own established standards.

Depending on the accreditor, the process can include:
πŸ“š An application and eligibility review
πŸ“š A comprehensive institutional self-study
πŸ“š Review of curriculum and instructional quality
πŸ“š Faculty and staff qualifications
πŸ“š Student services
πŸ“š Financial stability
πŸ“š Policies and procedures
πŸ“š Student achievement and outcomes
πŸ“š Completion and employment data
πŸ“š Institutional effectiveness
πŸ“š Continuous improvement plans
πŸ“š An on-site or virtual evaluation by an accrediting team
πŸ“š Review and final action by an accreditation commission

Accreditation is generally not something a new school receives simply by opening its doors.

The school must first establish its operations, demonstrate compliance, document its systems and outcomes, meet the accreditor's eligibility requirements and successfully complete the accreditor's review process.

πŸ”Ž SO WHEN SHOULD A STUDENT BE ESPECIALLY CONCERNED ABOUT ACCREDITATION?

This is where understanding your career goal becomes extremely important.

Students should specifically investigate accreditation when:
πŸŽ“ You plan to use Federal Student Aid.

Eligibility for federal Title IV financial aid generally requires attendance at an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized for that purpose by the U.S. Department of Education, along with meeting other federal requirements.

πŸŽ“ You plan to transfer credits to another college or university.

Another institution makes its own decision about whether it will accept your credits. Accreditation can be an important part of that decision, although accreditation NEVER guarantees that another institution will accept your credits.

πŸŽ“ Your future profession specifically requires graduation from an accredited PROGRAM.

Some healthcare professions have programmatic accreditation requirements before a graduate can qualify for certain licensing or certification pathways.

This is why students must look at the requirements for their specific profession and credential β€” not simply ask whether the entire school is accredited.

πŸŽ“ A certification board requires graduation from an accredited program or institution.

Every certification organization has its own eligibility requirements. Some accept graduates of state-approved career-training programs, while others require specific institutional or programmatic accreditation.

πŸŽ“ A future employer specifically requires an accredited-school credential.

Employer requirements vary. Students who already know they want to work for a particular hospital, healthcare organization, government agency or other employer should review that employer's educational requirements.

πŸŽ“ You plan to pursue advanced education later.

If your goal is eventually to transfer into an associate, bachelor's, graduate or professional degree program, you should investigate the receiving institution's admission and transfer-credit requirements BEFORE enrolling.

πŸ“Œ THIS IS WHY ASKING ONLY β€œIS THE SCHOOL ACCREDITED?” DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE COMPLETE ANSWER.

A better question is:
β€œDoes this program meet the educational requirements for what I plan to do after graduation?”

For example:
➑️ What certification do I want to take?
➑️ What does that certification organization require?
➑️ Does my profession require programmatic accreditation?
➑️ Am I planning to transfer these courses somewhere else?
➑️ Do I need federal financial aid?
➑️ Does the employer I want to work for have a specific requirement?
➑️ Am I pursuing a certificate for entry-level employment, or am I trying to continue into a degree program?
Those questions matter.

πŸ’‘ STATE LICENSURE IS NOT THE SAME AS ACCREDITATION β€” BUT LACK OF INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MEAN A SCHOOL IS OPERATING ILLEGALLY OR THAT every program is invalid.

A properly state-licensed private career school has received authorization to operate within the scope approved by its state.

Accreditation represents an additional external quality-review process and may become necessary depending upon the institution's goals, federal financial-aid participation, a particular profession, certification requirements, transfer plans or other circumstances.

There is also a difference between:
🏫 Institutional Accreditation β€” evaluates the institution as a whole.

and

🩺 Programmatic Accreditation β€” evaluates a specific professional or occupational program.

For certain professions, the accreditation of the specific program can actually be more important to the student's licensing or certification eligibility than simply asking whether the institution itself is accredited.

πŸ’™πŸ§‘ WHERE DOES COMPASSIONATE MEDICAL ACADEMY STAND?

Compassionate Medical Academy operates as a state-licensed private career school and continues to build and strengthen our academic systems, student services, institutional effectiveness, compliance, outcomes and long-term accreditation readiness.

We will always be transparent about our current institutional status and about the requirements connected to each program we offer.

We encourage EVERY prospective student β€” whether considering our school or another institution β€” to research the requirements for the career, certification, license or educational pathway they ultimately want to pursue.

Don't choose a school based on one word.

Choose a school after understanding:
βœ… Is the school legally authorized to operate?
βœ… Is the program approved?
βœ… What credential will I receive?
βœ… What certification can I pursue?
βœ… What are that certification organization's eligibility requirements?
βœ… Is programmatic accreditation required for my profession?
βœ… Will this training accomplish MY career goal?

State Licensed. Transparent. Student-Focused. Building for the Future.

πŸ“£ OFFICIAL UPDATE FROM COMPASSIONATE MEDICAL ACADEMY

Compassionate Medical Academy is entering an exciting season of growth, and we want our students, graduates, supporters and community partners to know what is ahead.

Since opening our doors, we have had the privilege of helping hundreds of students begin new careers in healthcare. Every enrollment, referral, encouraging message and successful graduate has contributed to our progress.

We are sincerely grateful to everyone who continues to believe in our mission.

As we prepare for the remainder of 2026 and move into 2027, several improvements are underway.

🏫 EXPANSION INTO A LARGER FACILITY

We are preparing for a future move into a larger facility that will give us more room for student services, classroom instruction, skills training, laboratory activities and additional programs.

Our goal is to create an environment that supports both our current students and the long-term direction of the Academy. Information about the new location will be announced once all plans are finalized.

πŸ‘©πŸ½β€βš•οΈ ADDITIONAL FACULTY AND SUPPORT STAFF

As our enrollment and student-support needs continue to increase, we will be adding qualified instructors and administrative professionals to our team.

These additions will help us strengthen communication, provide students with more academic support, improve response times and ensure that every department is prepared to serve our growing student population.

πŸ’» NEW ENROLLMENT SYSTEM, LMS AND STUDENT EXPERIENCE

We are also preparing to launch a new enrollment system, CMA Learning Management System (LMS), student portal and additional technology designed to improve the entire student experience.

These improvements will make it easier for students to:
βœ… Complete the enrollment process
βœ… Access courses and learning materials
βœ… View assignments, assessments and academic progress
βœ… Receive important announcements and reminders
βœ… Review program requirements and deadlines
βœ… Communicate with instructors and student-support staff
βœ… Access important student information in one central location
Our new systems are scheduled to be fully launched and ready before the September 14, 2026 cohort begins.

Students enrolled in the September 14 cohort will receive instructions regarding account access, orientation and any required enrollment steps directly from Compassionate Medical Academy. Please monitor your email and follow all instructions by the stated deadlines.

🚨 IMPORTANT ENROLLMENT ANNOUNCEMENT: UPDATED ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS 🚨

Beginning SEPTEMBER 5, 2026, Compassionate Medical Academy will introduce a new enrollment process that includes student interviews and an applicant selection process.

Our goal is to ensure that the school and program are the right fit for each studentβ€”and that each applicant is prepared to meet the expectations of the program.
We want to select serious and committed students who are ready to make a change, build a better future and make a difference in their livesβ€”not applicants who simply want to enroll without completing the required work.

Please review the following important requirements:
πŸ“Œ Before registering, make sure you are available to begin on the program start date you select.
πŸ“Œ Once class rosters have been submitted, your start date CANNOT be changed. Last-minute changes cause confusion with enrollment processing, class rosters and student placement.
πŸ“Œ All programs will officially begin on the start date listed during registration.
πŸ“Œ Students must complete all required coursework, virtual labs, hands-on skills training and externship hours, if applicable.
πŸ“Œ These requirements are mandatory. Students who do not complete every required component will not pass the program or receive a Certificate of Completion from Compassionate Medical Academy.

We are committed to providing quality training and supporting students who are serious about completing their education and beginning a new career. Please carefully review your schedule, responsibilities and readiness before registering.

πŸ“š ADDITIONAL PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES

We are developing new educational opportunities for late 2026 and 2027. Each program must go through curriculum development, staffing, compliance review and any required approval process before enrollment can begin.

Program announcements will only be made after the appropriate steps have been completed.

🩺 PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM UPDATE

We continue to work toward the future development of a Practical Nursing program.

Creating a nursing program requires careful curriculum planning, qualified nursing faculty, clinical partnerships, appropriate facilities, regulatory compliance, financial resources and approval from the proper agencies.

For that reason, Compassionate Medical Academy is not currently accepting applications, deposits or tuition payments for a Practical Nursing program.

We understand how much interest there is in this opportunity, but we will not announce an enrollment date until the program has received all required approvals.

Building a legitimate, compliant and academically founded program is more important.

❀️ OUR PROMISE TO OUR STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY

Our purpose is not simply to enroll more students. Our purpose is to provide accessible healthcare education while helping students develop the knowledge, skills, professionalism and confidence needed to move forward in their careers.

This next season is about improving our systems, strengthening student accountability, expanding support services and preparing Compassionate Medical Academy for responsible and sustainable growth.

We appreciate every student, graduate, instructor, partner and community member who has been part of our journey.

We are preparing for more.
We are strengthening our foundation.
We are creating new opportunities.
And we are continuing to turn passion into purpose. πŸŽ“β€οΈ
