**3 COMMON CAUSES OF NECK PAIN**

Have you ever awakened with a stiff neck? Or noticed your neck getting increasingly sore after a long day at work?

Neck pain is one of the most common complaints I see in practice. But here's something important to understand:

**Not all neck pain has the same cause—and not all neck pain should be treated the same way.**

Here are three common reasons your neck might be hurting:

**1. Muscle Strain and Tension**

Long hours at a computer, repetitive activities, stress, or even sleeping in an awkward position can strain the muscles supporting your neck.

The result? Tightness, soreness, stiffness, and difficulty turning your head.

**2. Degenerative Changes**

As we age, the discs and joints in our cervical spine naturally undergo changes.

Sometimes those changes contribute to neck pain, stiffness, or reduced mobility. However, many people have degenerative changes on imaging without experiencing pain.

**3. Injury or Trauma**

Automobile accidents, falls, and sports injuries can damage the muscles, ligaments, discs, or joints of the neck.

Even when symptoms initially seem minor, a proper evaluation can help determine whether treatment or additional testing is necessary.

**SO WHAT SHOULD YOU DO ABOUT NECK PAIN?**

After 37 years in practice, one thing I've learned is that the most important part of treatment happens before the first adjustment.

**We need to understand what's causing your symptoms before deciding how to treat them.**

At **Woywood Integrated Medicine**, we combine chiropractic care, medical services, and wellness support to help patients receive appropriate, individualized care.

Sometimes chiropractic treatment is appropriate. Sometimes medical evaluation or treatment is needed. And sometimes a combination of approaches makes sense.

**Our goal isn't simply to relieve your pain today. It's to help you move better and maintain your health over time.**

CHIROPRACTIC CARE + MEDICAL CARE: BETTER TOGETHER!

One thing I've learned in 37 years of practice is that no single healthcare profession has all the answers.

Chiropractic care can be an excellent option for certain musculoskeletal conditions, helping patients manage pain and improve mobility through a conservative, hands-on approach.

Medical care brings additional diagnostic and treatment options, including medications, medical procedures, and management of conditions that require medical attention.

The important thing isn't choosing one over the other. It's choosing the care that's appropriate for the patient.

Sometimes chiropractic care is all that's needed.

Sometimes medical treatment is the better choice.

And sometimes a patient benefits from both.

That's why I believe in healthcare professionals working together rather than working in isolation.

At Woywood Integrated Medicine, we've brought chiropractic, medical care, and wellness services together to offer patients a more coordinated approach to their health.

Our goal is to listen, understand your concerns, evaluate your condition, and help you find the most appropriate path forward.

Different expertise. Shared commitment. Your health comes first.

Helping people live healthy, pain-free lives.

At Woywood Integrated Medicine, we take a holistic approach to chiropractic care, recognizing that the body functions as a connected system. When alignment, movement, or muscle balance is disrupted, pain often follows. Addressing the source—not just the symptoms—can make all the difference.

Back pain is one of the most common reasons people delay seeking care. Many assume it will go away on its own or believe it’s just part of daily life. While mild soreness can resolve with rest, ongoing or worsening back pain is often a sign that something deeper needs attention. Understanding when...

**WHAT HAPPENS DURING YOUR FIRST CHIROPRACTIC VISIT?**

If you've never been to a chiropractor—or it's been a while—you might wonder what to expect.

At **Woywood Integrated Medicine**, we believe your first visit should be about more than simply getting an adjustment.

**Here's what you can expect:**

**1. We Listen First.**
We'll discuss your symptoms, health history, concerns, and what you're hoping to accomplish.

**2. A Thorough Examination.**
I'll perform an examination to better understand your condition and determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you.

**3. Your First Adjustment.**
If the examination indicates that chiropractic care is appropriate, you'll receive an adjustment tailored to your needs.

**4. A 30-Minute Massage.**
Your introductory visit package includes a 30-minute massage to help relax tight muscles and relieve tension.

**IMPORTANT: Massage may be scheduled separately from your initial appointment.**

**5. A Second Visit to Review Your Progress.**
We'll discuss how you responded to your first adjustment, review our findings, and talk about recommendations for future care, if needed.

**And the best part? Our new-patient chiropractic special is just $60!**

This is our ongoing introductory offer—not a limited-time promotion.

After 37 years in practice, I still believe that good healthcare begins with listening, examining, and recommending the care that's right for each individual.

**WHY I BECAME A CHIROPRACTOR**

People sometimes ask me why I chose chiropractic as a career.

The answer goes back to something I've believed since the beginning: **I wanted to help people get better without exposing them to unnecessary risks from medications or surgery.**

I was drawn to chiropractic because it offered an opportunity to help people through a hands-on, conservative approach to healthcare.

I began practicing on August 18, 1989. More than 37 years later, that motivation hasn't changed.

Over the years, I've also learned that good healthcare isn't about insisting that one treatment is the answer to everything.

Sometimes chiropractic care is appropriate. Sometimes medical treatment is necessary. And sometimes the best results come from healthcare providers working together.

That's part of what led us to build **Woywood Integrated Medicine**, where chiropractic, medical care, and wellness services can complement one another.

I still believe in taking the time to listen, performing a thorough examination, and recommending care based on what each patient actually needs.

**I didn't become a chiropractor just to adjust spines. I became a chiropractor to help people.**

And after all these years, I still love what I do.

**WHAT MAKES THAT POPPING SOUND DURING A CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENT?**

Ever wonder what makes that familiar *pop* when you get adjusted?

Here's something that surprises a lot of people:

**It's not your bones cracking!**

Your joints contain a lubricating fluid called synovial fluid. This fluid contains dissolved gases, including nitrogen.

During certain chiropractic adjustments, the joint surfaces separate slightly, creating a rapid decrease in pressure inside the joint. This causes a gas-filled cavity to form in the joint fluid—a process called **cavitation**.

That rapid formation is what produces the popping sound.

**But here's the important part: A louder pop doesn't mean a better adjustment!**

In fact, an adjustment can be effective without making any popping sound at all.

After 37 years in practice, I've learned that what matters isn't the noise a joint makes. What matters is choosing the appropriate treatment for each patient and evaluating how they respond.

At **Woywood Integrated Medicine**, we believe in understanding your condition before recommending care.

Because our mission is simple:

**WHY I EXAMINE BEFORE I ADJUST**

One question I sometimes hear is, “Why do I need an examination before getting adjusted?”

My answer is simple: **Because I want to make sure chiropractic care is appropriate for you.**

After 37 years in practice, I've learned that two patients can come into my office with nearly identical symptoms but have very different underlying problems.

Back pain isn't always caused by the spine. Neck pain isn't always a simple muscle problem. And not every condition should be treated with a chiropractic adjustment.

That's why I take the time to listen to your concerns, review your health history, and perform a thorough examination before recommending treatment.

Sometimes chiropractic care is the right approach. Sometimes medical evaluation or treatment is more appropriate. And sometimes patients benefit from both.

That's one of the reasons we've brought chiropractic, medical care, and wellness services together at **Woywood Integrated Medicine**.

**My goal isn't simply to give you an adjustment. It's to help you get the care you actually need.**

Because good healthcare starts with understanding the problem.

MEET DR. BRIAN WOYWOOD — TEXAS RAISED, TEXAS CHIROPRACTOR!

Texas is my home. I grew up here, and I've spent my entire chiropractic career practicing right here in the Lone Star State.

Every patient is different. That's why I take the time to understand your concerns, perform a thorough examination, and determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate for your condition.

Today, at Woywood Integrated Medicine in Live Oak, we bring together chiropractic, medical care, and wellness services because I believe patients benefit when healthcare professionals work together.

I'm proud of my Texas roots, grateful for the trust my patients place in me, and still passionate about helping people improve their health.
