When a wound isn't healing as expected, what's happening beneath the surface can matter just as much as what's happening on the skin. Good circulation plays an important role in healing.

When blood flow is affected, wounds, especially on the legs and feet, can take longer to heal, become more difficult to treat, or keep coming back.

That's why, during Vascular Disease Awareness Month, we're helping patients and families understand the connection between circulation and wound healing, and the signs that shouldn't be ignored.

A leg or foot wound that isn't getting better. A wound that keeps returning. Changes in the skin. Persistent swelling or pain.

These aren't things you should simply learn to live with.

If you or someone you love has a wound that isn't healing as expected, getting it evaluated can help uncover the factors that may be standing in the way of healing.

One year of building relationships, strengthening connections, and helping more patients find the care they need. ๐Ÿ’š

Today, weโ€™re celebrating Jadeโ€™s one-year anniversary with Hill Country Wound Care & Hyperbarics.

As a Physician Liaison, Jade is an important connection between our clinics and the healthcare community we serve. Over the past year, she has spent countless hours meeting with providers, building relationships with referral partners, and helping ensure physicians and their teams know where to turn when a patient needs specialized wound care.

But what makes Jade so valuable to our team goes beyond the relationships she builds. Itโ€™s the genuine care, energy, and commitment she brings to every interaction. Always keeping the patient at the center of why those connections matter.

Jade, thank you for everything youโ€™ve brought to Hill Country during your first year. Weโ€™re grateful to have you on our team and excited for everything ahead.

Help us celebrate Jade and her first year with Hill Country! ๐ŸŽ‰

Every treatment plan starts with listening. Before a wound can be treated, it has to be understood.

That means taking the time to hear a patient's story, understand what's been tried, answer questions, and look beyond the wound itself to identify what's preventing healing.

At Hill Country Wound Care & Hyperbarics, every treatment plan is built around the individual. Because no two patients, and no two wounds, are exactly alike. Listening isn't just how we begin every visit. It's how we build the trust, understanding, and physician-led care that help patients move forward with confidence.

Being part of the San Antonio community means showing up for the conversations shaping its future. ๐Ÿ’š

Earlier this month, our team joined local leaders and organizations at The Greater San Antonio Chamberโ€™s 2026 Annual All Members Meeting & Mixer at The DoSeum.

For us, being part of the Chamber is about more than attending events. Itโ€™s about staying connected to the people and organizations working every day to make San Antonio stronger. Listening, learning, building relationships, and better understanding the community weโ€™re proud to serve.

As a locally based healthcare organization, those connections matter. The stronger our relationships are across healthcare, business, and the broader community, the better positioned we all are to support the people who call San Antonio home.

Thank you to The Greater San Antonio Chamber for bringing so many people together and continuing to create opportunities for meaningful connection across our city.

Weโ€™re proud to be part of it.

Most diabetic amputations don't begin with a major injury. They begin with a wound that didn't seem serious at first.

The good news is that many diabetic amputations can be prevented.

In this video, Dr. Michael Cascio explains why early recognition, timely evaluation, and coordinated, physician-led care can make a meaningful difference in protecting limb health.

Because preventing limb loss isn't about waiting until a wound becomes severe. It's about recognizing the warning signs and taking action while there's still an opportunity to change the course of healing.

If you or someone you love has diabetes and a wound that isn't healing, don't wait to have it evaluated.

When a wound becomes a recurring concern, knowing where to turn can make all the difference.

For James and his wife, Gail, that means having a team they can call when there's a problem with the wounds on his legs.

As Gail shared, James is living with diabetes, and his care has included wrapping his legs for periods of time to support healing.

Stories like James and Gail's are why we believe wound care is about more than treating what's happening today. It's about building trust, helping patients and families understand their care, and being there when they need us.

If you or someone you love is living with diabetes and struggling with a wound that isn't healing, specialized wound care can help.

If you're waiting for a diabetic foot ulcer to "look serious," you may already be waiting too long.

Many diabetic foot ulcers begin with subtle changes that are easy to dismiss. A small blister, a callus, redness, or a wound that just isn't healing the way it should. For people living with diabetes, recognizing these early signs can make an important difference.

In this video, Dr. Michael Cascio explains what to look for, why these wounds deserve prompt attention, and when it's time to have them evaluated by a wound care specialist.

If you or someone you love has diabetes, don't wait for a wound to become a bigger problem. Early evaluation can make all the difference.

Not every serious wound is painful.

For many people living with diabetes, nerve damage can make it difficult to feel an injury. That's why even a painless wound should never be ignored. Left untreated, it can become infected and lead to serious complications.

If you or a loved one have a wound that isn't healing, our physician-led team is here to help.

The care our patients receive begins long before they walk through our doors.

Behind every treatment is a team that's committed to learning, growing, and working together to provide the highest standard of care.

Whether it's Dr. Michael Cascio sharing his expertise on complex wounds or hands-on training that helps our clinical team better support patients with mobility challenges, every opportunity to learn is an opportunity to provide better care.

Because physician-led care isn't just about who's leading the treatment. It's about building a team that shares knowledge, strengthens skills, and puts patients first in everything they do.

That's how we continue to deliver the compassionate, personalized care our patients deserve.

Sometimes the biggest mistake isn't what you do, it's waiting too long to get a wound checked.

A diabetic foot ulcer doesn't always look serious at first. What begins as a small blister, callus, or cut can become much more difficult to treat if it's left untreated.

In this video, Dr. Michael Cascio shares five common mistakes people make with diabetic foot ulcers, from waiting too long to seek care and continuing to put pressure on the wound to overlooking the early signs of infection.

The good news is that many complications can be reduced with early recognition and timely care. Knowing what to look for and when to seek specialized treatment can help protect your health, your mobility, and your quality of life.

If you or someone you love has diabetes and a wound that isn't healing, don't wait to have it evaluated. Seeking specialized wound care early can make a meaningful difference.
