Trying to lose weight but still want to eat out? Then start paying attention to these 5 things when you’re ordering out because some restaurant meals contain an entire day’s worth of calories. 😳
I was at the Cheesecake Factory last night for dinner and comparing similar menu items and found one taco meal that was over 1,400 calories and another similar taco meal that was around 520 calories.
The difference wasn’t the taco. It was literally everything ON the taco.
If you’re eating in a calorie deficit, you need to pay attention to:
✔️ Portion Sizes
Restaurant portions are often 2–3 servings disguised as one meal.
✔️ Sauces
Creamy sauces, aiolis, and drizzles can add hundreds of calories without filling you up.
✔️ Dressings
Always ask for dressing on the side. Use what you need, not what they pour.
✔️ Oils & Cooking Fats
Restaurants are far more generous with oils and butter than you would be at home.
✔️ Cheese, Toppings & Extras
Cheese, crispy toppings, chips, and add-ons can quickly turn a reasonable meal into a calorie bomb.
You don’t need to avoid restaurants. You need to know where the calories are hiding so you can make empowered decisions that align with your goals. Having that awareness can save you hundreds - sometimes thousands - of calories without feeling deprived.
Knowledgeable is power, awareness is key. Show up with a plan cuz winging it will keep you stuck right where you’re at today. 💋
