IDP: it stands for internally displaced person, but there's a difficult story behind every single person that carries that label.
Forced from their homes and seeking shelter in nearby communities; IDPs are the displaced victims of war. Getting medical treatment for them is critical, but also incredibly challenging.
It's why our medical teams work as Mobile Units in the shelters for IDPs in Dnipro and Kharkiv. They treat those whom the strained system isn't equipped to help, so they’re not left to suffer through injuries and treatable conditions.
The medical team in Kharkiv oblast consists of 2 family doctors, 1 neurologist, 1 nurse and a driver. In Dnipro oblast it consists of 1 family doctor, 1 family doctor+endocrinologist, 1 rehabilitation physician, 1 nurse and a driver.
Our teams are small, but they have a big impact; seeing 800-900 patients per month.
