๐ The Map of Consciousness: Understanding Emotional Frequency ๐
The Map of Consciousness, created by Dr. David R. Hawkins, is a spiritual and self-reflection model that places emotional states on a scale from 20 to 1000, moving from contracted awareness into expanded awareness.
At the lower end are states like shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, desire, anger, and pride. These are not โbadโ emotions โ they are deeply human states that often arise when we are wounded, protecting ourselves, grieving, or trying to survive.
As we move upward, we reach emotions such as courage, neutrality, willingness, acceptance, reason, love, joy, peace, and enlightenment. These states are associated with greater clarity, compassion, responsibility, inner peace, and connection.
One of the most important points on the map is:
โจ 200 โ Courage โจ
Hawkins described courage as the turning point โ the place where energy begins to shift from contraction into empowerment. Courage does not mean we are never afraid. It means we are willing to face life honestly, take responsibility, and choose growth instead of remaining trapped in fear.
This map can be used as a mirror for self-awareness:
๐ Am I reacting from fear?
๐ฅ Am I moving through anger?
๐ Am I stepping into courage?
๐ Am I practicing acceptance?
๐ Am I choosing love?
The goal is not to shame ourselves for feeling lower emotions. Grief, fear, anger, and guilt all have messages. They show us where healing is needed. The spiritual path is not about pretending to be peaceful all the time โ it is about becoming conscious of where we are, meeting ourselves with compassion, and choosing the next higher response when we are ready.
Awareness is power.
Choice is freedom.
Love is the way. โจ
