🎨 Art represents life.

πŸ¦β€β¬› Working on this sketch for some time. First the head, then the wing, then back to the head and the process repeats.

πŸ‘οΈ Avoiding stagnancy and a narrow view, you work the drawing wherever you are called too.

⛰️ Sometimes you think something is finished and yet when you move on you see what could be better.

🎒 The rhythm of life is the same. Don’t get stuck in one spot for too long or you miss the bigger picture.

Sometimes important beings (people/animals) in our life leave before we are ready for them to go.

Sometimes we lose and grieve and never expect to see them again.

And sometimes they come back ❀️❀️

Let’s normalize prioritizing healthy relationships and the role they play in our children’s future. And our own.

The nervous system remembers everything, even when our conscious minds choose to forget.

Dis-ease comes from our experiences and can be healed through exposure to positive/healthy relationships.

Is bedtime stalling really manipulation, or is it the one quiet minute all day where a small person finally feels how much they missed you?

We are quick to read the bedtime stalling as a game.

One more story. Another glass of water. Just five more minutes, please. The requests stack up right when we have the least left to give, and it starts to feel like manipulation, a small person working the system while our patience burns down to the wick.

But is it really manipulation, or is it something much simpler and much harder to turn away from. The one quiet minute in the entire day where the noise finally stops. No school, no siblings, no screens, no rushing from one thing to the next. Just the dark, and the stillness, and the sudden ache of how much of you they missed.

All day they held it together without you. Managed the big room, the loud hours, the whole overwhelming world. And now, in the quiet, the missing catches up with them all at once, and the only way they know to say it is to ask you to stay a little longer.

The extra story was never about the story. The water was never about the water. It was about you, and the day slipping past before they got enough of the one person they were reaching for the whole time. That is not a child working an angle. That is a child telling you, in the only language they have, that you were the part of the day they wanted most.

πŸ’¦ Aquatic Therapy is under way here at I.W.S.

🧘 Water has so much more therapeutic value than just strengthening. It is a catalyst to improving mental health and functional performance.

⛑️ Safety first: Floating is the primary source of safe swimming. If you have been here, you know we practice SAFE risk taking.

πŸ¦† This guy learned to float the other day primarily as a water safety strategy BUT the benefits are so much more than that.

Floating in a calm body of water soothes the nervous system by activating the parasympathetic nervous system and quieting the sympathetic nervous system.

🧠 Want to know the science?

* Vagus Nerve Stimulation: The cool or warm water temperature combined with deep, buoyant breathing acts as a non-invasive stimulator for the vagus nerve. This lowers your heart rate and stabilizes blood pressure.
* Reduced Central Workload: Buoyancy reduces the effects of gravity on your body. Up to 90% of your central nervous system's normal activity is dedicated to calculating gravity, balance, and environmental movement. Floating frees up this neural processing capacity.
* Brainwave Alteration: Lying weightless in water triggers a shift in brainwave activity from alert Beta waves to deeply relaxed Alpha and Theta waves. These waves are typically achieved during deep meditation or the "twilight" state of sleep.
* Amygdala Downregulation: The calming tactile sensation of water pressure reduces overactivity in the amygdala. This is the brain's primary alarm system responsible for processing fear and stress.

Why is that good for you?

* Hormonal Balancing: According to research analyzed by the Cleveland Clinic, deep physical relaxation decreases circulating stress hormones like cortisol. It also prompts the brain to release mood-boosting endorphins and dopamine.
* Pain Signal Silencing: By removing physical pressure points from hard surfaces, the body experiences neutral spinal traction. This breaks chronic feedback loops where the nervous system constantly fires off pain data to the brain.
* Improved Sleep Architecture: Regular water-based relaxation resets your circadian rhythm.

πŸ™Œ Brain science for mental health wins again!! Now go float 🦒
