This past Friday, as part of National Dreams Are Possible Day, we surprised one of our deserving residents by granting one of his dreams. Bob thought he was just going to enjoy a cold b**r at Happy Hour, but he soon found himself and his wife being whisked off for a fun afternoon thanks to Live a Dream and the Willows at Springhurst! Bob is a Vietnam Vet and former Boy Scout Troop leader, and in his younger days he liked nothing more than putting in some time at the gun range. He often relates to our staff how much he used to enjoy shooting and how much he misses it. Bob, who often puts his family and neighbors before himself, couldn’t be more deserving so we arranged for him to go shoot some clay pigeons at the Jefferson Gun Club, under the safe and watchful eye of the JGC President (and our Chief Engineer), Keith Dobson. Bob took out more than a dozen clay pigeons, reminisced about the old days, and talked shop with Keith, smiling and laughing the entire time. Afterwards, we treated Bob and his wife, Pat, to dinner at one of their favorite places to eat, The Golden Corral. We’re not sure who had more fun. Pat was giddy because she had helped us keep the surprise a secret for over a week. “After 53 years of marriage, this is the first time I’ve gotten one over on him!”
