Listening to the Moon

Some bags carry things. This one gathers stories.

She carries moonlight in one hand,
hope in the other,
and trusts that even the smallest stars
know the way home.

🖤 Wandering Altars #9
one-of-a-kind, layered with heirloom pieces, ghost stencils, and small symbolic companions
Each piece has its own visual language, all connected by one simple idea:
Some bags carry things. These gather stories.

☁️✨ Whispers for a Sunday Soul ✨

Not every road trip happens on a road.
Sometimes it begins with a boarding pass.
Sometimes with a change of scenery.
Sometimes with saying yes to an unexpected adventure.

The journey isn't measured in miles.
It's measured in the stories you collect, the people you meet, and the way your heart returns home just a little fuller.

Journal Prompt:
If your life is a road trip, where are you right now?

Whispers for a Sunday Soul

Flowers have a way of reminding us to slow down. 🌿✨

This week's whisper invites you to notice the quiet beauty waiting just outside your door.

Flower pounding (Tataki-zomé or Hapa Zome) is more than a beautiful art technique—it's an invitation to be fully present.

With every gentle tap of the hammer, petals release their color, leaves leave their imprint, and for a little while, your hands are too busy creating to carry the weight of the day.
There's no perfect outcome. No right way. Only the quiet magic of watching nature transform.
It's a practice in letting go. A reminder that beauty often arrives through imperfection.

This week, gather a few blooms from your garden or a walk, spread them across a piece of fabric or paper, and see what stories they leave behind.

✨ Journal Prompt: What in your life is asking you to slow down enough to truly notice it? What beauty have you been rushing past?

The most meaningful art begins with slowing down enough to notice what was already waiting to be found.

May this week leave a gentle imprint on your heart, just as the flowers leave theirs. 🌿🖤

🌙 Whispers for a Sunday Soul — “The Magic of an Ordinary Face” ✨

Some magic doesn’t arrive with thunder or spectacle.
Sometimes it looks like sunlight on your skin, laughter lines earned honestly, tangled hair from a life fully lived.
Sometimes the magic is simply you — still here, still soft, still becoming.

🕯️ Prompt:
What parts of yourself have grown more beautiful with time?

What stories live in the face you meet in the mirror?
If you looked at yourself the way the universe does — tenderly, with wonder — what would you finally notice?

Write about the quiet magic of surviving, evolving, and learning to carry your own light.

✨ You are allowed to become softer and stronger at the same time.

I painted her during a season when I was searching for something I couldn’t yet name.
Looking at her now, I can still feel the echo of that moment—
the way my hands moved before my heart could speak,
the way she seemed to arrive through color and texture
as if reminding me I was not creating her…
I was remembering her.

There’s a particular connection we form with the images that come through us.
This one has stayed with me—
a quiet companion, a mirror, a guide.
Her closed eyes feel like an invitation inward,
back to the place where the sacred first whispered my name.

Sequins faded, petals gathering dust,
a little worn from weather and devotion.

And still, she shines.
Maybe even more so because nothing about her radiance is perfect—
it’s lived-in, touched, prayed over,
softened by time.

This is the Mary I love most:
the one who reminds us that we can be frayed at the edges
and still utterly luminous. ✨🌹

A quiet altar.
A single flame.
Stones and shells gathered with intention.
The simple act of arranging beauty becomes a conversation with the Divine Mother herself.

These small rituals remind me that creativity is a way of honoring the sacred threads that run through our days, our hands, and our healing.

Here’s to returning to the light, one tender offering at a time.

All dressed up and ready to celebrate Día de los Mu***os — this year's scarecrow is inspired by la Catrina and brings a little colorful celebration to the season!
A twinkle of mischief in her eyes, she reminds us that even the afterlife has great fashion sense. 😉🎩💐

Come say hello to Señorita Calavera during the Downtown Loveland Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt — snap a photo, share the fun, and celebrate community creativity!

💀🌸 A Heartfelt Thank you to Visit Loveland Colorado for sponsoring this year’s scarecrow magic! Your support helps bring creativity, color, and community spirit to our downtown — and I'm so grateful to be part of it. 💐✨

🕯 Whispers for a Sunday Soul

In the quiet spaces where others see only darkness, what beauty do you find?

Write about a time you found something sacred, unexpected, or beautiful in a place that felt broken, forgotten, or shadowed.
Was it an object, a memory, a creature, a feeling?
What did it teach you?
How did it change you?

✨Optional: Sketch, collage, or describe a found object that could represent this memory.

✴️ Whispers for a Sunday Soul — Elowen’s Story

In the quiet between chapters, she found herself gathering fragments — small tokens of love, loss, and becoming.

Think of a time you stood at a threshold in your life. What did you have to release to move forward?
What did you carry with you as a sacred offering to who you were becoming?
