June is National Safety Month, making it the perfect time to talk about fall prevention for older adults.

Falls are one of the leading causes of injury among older adults, but many falls can be prevented with a few simple steps:

✔ Stay active to improve strength and balance
✔ Keep walkways clear of clutter and tripping hazards
✔ Ensure your home has good lighting, especially on stairs and in hallways
✔ Wear properly fitting, supportive shoes
✔ Have your vision and medications reviewed regularly

A small change today can help prevent a serious injury tomorrow. Taking steps to improve safety at home can help older adults stay independent, active, and healthy.

This National Safety Month, encourage the older adults in your life to make fall prevention a priority.
