🍼💰 From Milk to Riches… ✨

We spend our days talking about milk, pumping, nursing, bottles, latch, feeding plans, newborns, and all the little (and sometimes BIG) questions that come with feeding a baby. 🍼💕 But every once in a while, we get to put the pumps and paperwork down, get dressed up, and just enjoy being together!

Mom Prom was the perfect night to celebrate the women behind Cincy Lactation. ✨

I’m so thankful for this team—not just for the knowledge and experience each of us brings, but for the heart, compassion, laughter, and genuine love we have for the families we serve. We get to walk alongside moms during some of the most exciting, exhausting, emotional, and unforgettable seasons of their lives, and that is something we never take for granted. 💗

From helping a mom feel confident at her first latch, to figuring out pumping, bottles, milk supply, returning to work, or simply reminding her that she’s doing a great job—we’re honored to be part of so many feeding journeys.

And after all that hard work… we definitely deserved a night of dresses, dancing, laughs, and a little sparkle! 👑🥂✨

😂 The breastfeeding “shift” really does feel like a 24/7 job sometimes!

If your baby suddenly wants to nurse ALL. THE. TIME, especially during certain parts of the day, you may be experiencing cluster feeding. Cluster feeding is when a baby feeds much more frequently than usual, sometimes seeming like they want to nurse constantly for a period of time.

And no, it doesn’t automatically mean you don’t have enough milk. 💕 Babies may cluster feed during growth spurts, when they’re going through developmental changes, when they need extra comfort, or when they’re working to increase milk production.

Your baby nursing frequently is also one of the ways your body gets the message to make more milk. The more often milk is removed, the more your body receives that signal.

So if you’re sitting there thinking, “I JUST fed you!” 😂 — you’re definitely not alone.

🍼 Why does cluster feeding happen?

If your baby suddenly wants to nurse every 30–60 minutes, especially in the evening, you might wonder, “Do I have enough milk?” 🤔

There are several reasons babies cluster feed:

✨ Growth spurts: Babies may temporarily need more milk and nurse more often as their bodies grow.

✨ Increasing milk supply: Frequent milk removal tells your body that your baby needs more milk. It’s one way your supply adjusts to your baby’s changing needs.

✨ Baby’s small tummy: Young babies digest breast milk quickly, so they may need to feed frequently.

✨ Developmental changes: During periods of rapid development, babies may become more interested in feeding and seek additional comfort and connection.

✨ Comfort & regulation: Breastfeeding isn’t only about hunger. Sucking can be soothing and help babies relax, especially toward the end of the day.

✨ Evening fussiness: Many babies have a period of increased fussiness in the evening, which can make it feel like they want to nurse nonstop.

💡 The important part: Cluster feeding by itself does NOT automatically mean your baby isn’t getting enough milk.

Instead of judging supply based on how often baby wants to nurse, look at the bigger picture—things like diaper output, weight gain, swallowing during feeds, and how baby is doing overall.

And if you’re unsure whether your baby is getting enough milk, a lactation consultant can help you assess the feeding and make a plan. 🤍
