😡And there’s no cure for PMOS ...PCOS/PMOS costs the U.S. an estimated $133–169 billion every year, and most of that has nothing to do with doctor visits or prescriptions. 💜
A new study in the Journal of the Endocrine Society surveyed 433 women with PCOS/PMOS and 252 women without it. Here’s what they found:
📉 Women with PCOS/PMOS rated their overall health significantly lower, adding up to roughly 2–6 weeks of full health lost every year.
💼 They lost a median of 39.5% of their work productivity, compared with just 6% for women without PCOS/PMOS.
💸 Lost productivity alone costs an estimated $97.9 billion a year in the U.S.
🔍 Pain, anxiety/depression, and physical limitations were the key factors setting women with PCOS/PMOS apart.
The takeaway? PCOS/PMOS is not “just” a fertility or cosmetic issue. It affects how women feel, function, and show up every single day. That’s why it deserves whole-person care that addresses the root drivers, not just the symptoms.
If you’ve ever felt like PCOS/PMOS is affecting more than your cycle, you’re not imagining it, and you’re not alone.
