Apparently, figuring out what we want next is something we’re meant to squeeze in between everyone else’s appointments.

We’re watching our parents get older. Learning when to let our kids go and when to pick up the phone. Checking in on friends facing hard news. Trying to do our jobs, get some sleep and understand our own changing bodies.

And somewhere in there, we have questions about our own lives.

You can love your people and need a break from being needed. You can be good at handling things and wish someone else would take a turn.

If it feels like everything is happening at once, you’re not alone. A lot of us are right there with you.

What are you juggling at the moment? You don’t have to wrap it up with “but I’m fine.” 💛

The Midlife Collective is changing the cultural conversation around women and aging through storytelling, media, live events and community.

Come as you are. We’re so glad you found us. The Midlife Collective

Some birthdays deserve a whole dance floor.

Today, our co-founder, friend and queen Constance Zimmer turns 56. ❤️

On Saturday, October 17, we’re joining her at Earlybirds Club, and we want our MLC community there with us.

Because this is part of midlife, too. Making time for your friends. Finding new ones. Singing every word to a song you haven’t heard in years. Showing up for each other when there’s something wonderful to celebrate.

Haven’t met Earlybirds Club yet? It’s a dance party for women and gender-expansive folks, with ’80s, ’90s and 2000s favorites, room to let loose, and a very civilized 10 p.m. finish.

🪩 Saturday, October 17 | 6–10 p.m.
📍 Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn
🎟️ Ages 21+

Earlybirds donates 10% of ticket proceeds to the Susie Lee Legacy Fund. This quarter’s focus includes women’s health, cancer support, grief and caregiving.

Bring your friends or come on your own. We’d love to celebrate with you.

Get your tickets through the link in The Midlife Collective or Earlybirds Club’s bio and meet us on the dance floor. ❤️

And leave our birthday queen some love below. 👑

We’ve said yes with a knot in our stomach. Yes when we were exhausted. Yes because disappointing ourselves somehow felt easier than disappointing someone else.

By midlife, we know what those yeses cost.

So we’re taking a minute before answering. Checking whether we actually want to. Letting someone be disappointed without rushing to fix it.

And saving a few yeses for the things we keep putting off for ourselves.

What are you no longer giving an automatic yes to? ❤️

You can be showing up for everyone else while carrying something almost no one knows about.

Our co-founder Constance Zimmer recently shared her breast cancer diagnosis. While helping create spaces for women to tell their midlife truths, she was privately navigating her own. Three surgeries in three weeks, followed by radiation, alongside work and very public celebrations.

Today, she’s cancer-free. And we are so grateful. ❤️

One part of her story stays with us: finding a doctor who made her feel that what she wanted mattered. Someone who listened, talked through her options and helped her make a decision that felt right for her.

Being heard matters. Especially when it’s your body.

Swipe for what we want every woman to know: 84% of breast cancers are diagnosed in women 50 and older.

Constance, we love you. Thank you for opening up about something so personal, on your own terms, and making room for other women to feel less alone.

On Talk Fifty To Me™️, Constance and sit down with her breast surgeon, Dr. Kristi Funk, for an honest conversation about her diagnosis, treatment and the questions she needed answered.

🎧 Listen to the full episode (link in bio) on YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts, and share it with a woman you love.

To anyone navigating a diagnosis, waiting for answers or supporting someone through it: there’s room for you here, whether you’re ready to talk or simply need to listen. The Midlife Collective

Being told to “just get on with it” is not a care plan.

We deserve doctors who listen, answers about our changing bodies and care we can actually afford.

In this week’s Midlife Edit, we’re sharing highlights from Jennifer Weiss-Wolf’s piece in the Los Angeles Times on progress in menopause care and policy. Jennifer Weiss-Wolf

These conversations matter when you’re struggling through a workday on no sleep, trying to get a prescription filled or wondering why nobody prepared you for any of this.

It’s why we talk about menopause here. Too many women have spent years feeling dismissed, embarrassed or left to figure it out alone.

We’ll take the wins. And we’ll keep asking for better.

Swipe through and tell us: What’s the one thing you wish were different about your menopause care?

Share this with a woman who’s been told to just push through. ❤️

“Just get on with it.”

How many of us learned that response before we ever learned what to expect from menopause?

Keep working. Keep caring for everyone. Say you’re fine.

We’re done with that expectation.

You deserve to be heard, to have your questions taken seriously and to get support. You’re allowed to say, “Actually, I’m struggling,” without apologizing for making anyone uncomfortable.

At The Midlife Collective, we’re making room for the conversations women were taught to keep to themselves. The messy ones. The personal ones. The ones that make another woman say, “Thank God. Me too.”

❤️ What’s one thing you wish someone had told you about perimenopause or menopause? Tell us below. Your words might be exactly what another woman needs today.

Some of your favourite women are people you haven’t met yet. ❤️

In midlife, there’s something powerful about finding women you can be honest with. The ones who understand the changing bodies, the family shifts, the “what do I want now?” conversations. Who make you laugh when it all feels a bit much, and have your back when you try something new.

Our co-founders Constance Zimmer and Julie Flakstad spoke with Flow Space about finding that connection in each other. Just over a year into their friendship, they’re a reminder that knowing someone for decades isn’t a prerequisite for being deeply understood.

It’s a big part of why we created The Midlife Collective: to bring women together, make room for honest conversations and help us feel less alone as we figure out what comes next.

And if you’re still looking for those friendships, there’s room for you here, too.

Thank you to Helen Carefoot and Flow Space Flow Space | Midlife Health for highlighting the power of female friendship in midlife.

Midlife has a way of showing you who your people are.

The women who sit beside you through the endings, the beginnings and the chapters you never saw coming. The ones who listen without trying to fix you, tell you the truth with love and remind you who you are when you’ve forgotten.

Some friendships help us survive a chapter. The right ones make space for the women we’re still becoming.

Tag your ride-or-dies below. The women who have held you up, cheered you on and helped you find your way back to yourself. 💗
