One of trauma’s deepest fears is:

“If this happens again, I won’t be able to get back up.”

So we try to control everything. We want certainty before we trust, commit, or begin.

What changed my life was realizing that nothing was meant to stay forever anyway.

And when life challenged me again, I learned something surprising:

I didn’t break.

I learned how to fly.

Fear can make you chase love you do not even want.
I spent years chasing people who were never aligned with me, not knowing I was really chasing proof that I was enough.
Every unanswered text felt like a verdict.
I was not dating. I was auditioning.
Your worth was never in how much they wanted you.
Save this if you are still chasing proof.

Wounded. Aware. Healing. Whole.

Every healing journey moves through these four phases. Here is what each one actually looks like.

Wounded is when trauma controls you without you knowing it. You are perfecting everything to stay safe. You are hyper independent because depending on others has always cost you. You are defensive because vulnerability has always been used against you. You are surviving. But you do not yet know that is what you are doing.

Aware is the moment everything shifts. You start questioning why you react the way you do. You get curious about your patterns instead of ashamed of them. You start searching for answers. This phase is uncomfortable. But it is the most important one. You cannot heal what you cannot see.

Healing is when you start choosing differently. You set boundaries not from fear but from values. You go to therapy. You do the work. You choose yourself on purpose every single day even when it is hard. Especially when it is hard.

Whole is not the absence of pain. It is the presence of you. Regulated. Authentic. Present. You have not forgotten what happened. But it no longer runs your life.

Which phase are you in right now?

Trauma trains the mind to live in chaos. And if you are not careful you start calling it home.

The overthinking. The overplanning. Preparing for monsters that are not there yet.

That felt safe once. But it has been costing you your peace and your present.

If calm makes you nervous your nervous system is still surviving something that already passed.

You are allowed to come home to calm.

We don’t fall for people. We fall for the version of them we build in our minds.

Every red flag becomes an excuse. Every disappointment becomes a reason to try harder.

That’s not love. That’s a wound looking for resolution.

You deserve someone real. Not someone you had to imagine into loving you.

Me: I’m going on a date tonight.

Also me: So tell me about your childhood.

Two hours later, the client was crying.

How do therapists turn therapy mode off? Asking for a friend.

Trauma Bonding Does Not Feel Like Pain. It Feels Like Love.

That is what makes it so hard to leave.

The highs feel electric. The reconciliations feel like proof. The hope feels real.

But what you are feeling is not love. It is your nervous system responding to a cycle it learned to survive.

You are not weak for staying. You were bonded by pain not by choice.

Real love does not require you to recover from it.

You Are Not Too Broken To Be Restored.

The cracks did not disqualify me.

They became the place where the light got out.

For a long time I carried my wounds like something to hide. Like evidence that I was too damaged to be whole.

But healing taught me something nobody told me at the start.

The broken places are not the end of your story.

They are where your story gets interesting.

Same woman. Same cracks. Different light.

You are not too broken to be restored.

Forgiveness Was Never For Them. It Was Always For Me.

I forgave the people who gave me wounds they would not heal.

Not because what they did was okay. It was not.

I forgave them because carrying their burden was exhausting me.

Because I normalized their humanity without excusing their choices.

Because my freedom could not wait for their healing.

What forgiveness does for them is theirs to experience or not.

My freedom will not cost me the price of their inability to heal.
