Trauma bonding can feel like love, which is exactly why walking away can feel so confusing.
The intensity feels like connection. The relief after conflict feels like closeness. Every reconciliation can make you believe that maybe this time things will finally change.
But sometimes what feels like love is actually your nervous system becoming attached to a repeated cycle of hurt, relief, and hope.
Staying does not mean you were weak. It means the bond was powerful.
Healing begins when you learn that love should not repeatedly wound you and then ask you to call the relief connection.
Healthy love does not require you to keep recovering from the relationship.
