Last week we gathered once again for a well-loved Living Well tradition, Family Fun Day. Rain clouds hovered over Como Park, but they couldn't keep the Living Well community from gathering for one of the year's most anticipated events.

Elvis was a hit as usual, and everyone had FUN.

Special thanks to all of our amazing volunteers who came out to help, our board members who came to support the mission, and our staff who make it all possible! It’s hard getting a group of four people to Como, now imagine 36 houses and over 400 people, including dozens of disability vans in a parking lot with only a few dedicated spots. It takes work to make days like this possible—and we are forever committed to prioritizing joy and community.

Thank you to all who helped make it a huge success!

The crew from Cloman joined friends and family to remember artist Dan Stallsworth at his funeral this afternoon. In his honor, staff celebrated his memory with painted shoes to match his beautifully speckled paint stained footwear. Everywhere Dan went, paint was plentiful. A fitting tribute to an incredible artist and beautiful human.

Dan, you will be missed.

The 2026 legislative session ended last week with a rush of major bills passing in the final hours before the midnight adjournment deadline. One of them was the human services supplemental budget bill, which passed in the closing moments of the session. Although this bill may not affect Living Well as much as last year’s disability services cuts, it makes significant changes intended to strengthen program integrity in Minnesota’s Medicaid programs and places new caps on some disability waiver services.

Just days before the session ended, legislative leaders and the Governor reached a last-minute agreement on the supplemental budget that included a major surprise for human services — an additional $150 million in cuts to the human services budget in both this biennium and the next.
