I don’t share this part of The Rite Bite’s story very often. 💚
I started this practice when I was 23 years old.
But truthfully, I think I knew I was going to do this with my life long before that.
I was the kid who genuinely loved fruits and vegetables (my family still makes fun of me for it 😂), studied nutrition and business in college, went on to earn my master’s and complete my dietetic internship, and started my career as a clinical dietitian at St. Charles Hospital.
But somewhere in the back of my mind, I always knew I wanted to build something of my own.
Something where I could actually get to know my patients.
Follow them beyond one hospital stay.
Celebrate their wins with them.
And create the kind of nutrition care I believed people deserved.
So at 23, The Rite Bite became more than my little recipe Instagram. It became a business.
In the beginning, I worked full days at the hospital and then drove to a spare office in my dad’s dental practice to see patients for another four hours at night. I had no idea exactly where it would go. I just knew I loved doing it.
Fast forward nine years…
We’ve now had the privilege of caring for more than 3,500 patients.
What started with just me has grown into an incredible team of dietitians who care about this practice and our patients just as much as I do.
We’ve grown into a beautiful office in Miller Place. We’ve expanded what we offer. We’ve weathered a pandemic, the ups and downs of owning a small business, and about a million lessons I definitely did not learn in clinical rotations. 😂
And somewhere along the way, I became a wife and a mom, too.
There are days when owning a business is exciting and days when it’s really, really hard. But every once in a while I look around our office at our team and our patients and think…
How did that 23-year-old girl build this? 🥹
