Dear members of the Children’s Well-Being (CWB) Foundation,

We are writing to you on behalf of the entire community at the Playtime Montessori Child Center to express our sincere gratitude for the valuable medical care visit—which included assessments for 52 children (diagnoses, weight, height, and oral health checks), as well as the distribution of medication and deworming treatments—conducted at our facilities this past Tuesday, August 4th.

Activities such as this not only safeguard our students’ physical health but also strengthen their emotional well-being and academic performance.

Recently, CWB had the privilege of conducting a clinic at the Maná Educational Center and Church in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

During the event, our team provided comprehensive exams to 52 children, identifying their primary health needs and offering appropriate recommendations. Thanks to our partnership with Calox Central America, we were also able to provide the necessary medicine for free.

We are especially grateful to the team at the Maná Educational Center and Church for their outstanding support and organization, which helped make the event efficient and very successful.

These clinics allow us to bring essential health services to children in need while strengthening our commitment to communities across Costa Rica.

On July 31, CWB held a medical clinic at a childcare center in Colón, a city located about 45 minutes west of San José.

For this clinic, we brought one dedicated volunteer and one skilled physician, who worked together to provide comprehensive medical care to 40 children.

Each child received a thorough medical exam, and when necessary, we provided medication and helped families arrange follow-up care to ensure they could continue getting the care they needed after our clinic.

Every visit matters. For some of these children, access to this kind of medical attention isn’t always easy. By bringing care directly into their communities, CWB can reach children who might otherwise fall through the cracks of Costa Rica’s healthcare system.

And that attention can make a real difference— potentially changing the course of a child’s life for the better.

We simply couldn’t do this work without the incredible support of our volunteers and donors.

CWB is deeply sorry to share that our former Director of Operations in Costa Rica, Jean Carlo Brenes, has passed away. During his many years with us, “JC” was a dedicated and passionate force, bringing great care and compassion to the families of Costa Rica and establishing trusting relationships throughout many communities. This video, taken a few years ago, demonstrates his empathy and his commitment to improving lives of children. Our most sincere condolences go out to his children, his family, and all who knew him. May he rest in peace and may his spirit be eternal. 💔💫

Children's Well-Being (CWB) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing free healthcare directly to children in Costa Rica's most remote and underserved communities. Many of the families we serve live hours from the nearest medical facility, making routine healthcare difficult—or even impossible—to access.

Through our mobile medical clinics, physicians provide free comprehensive medical examinations, treatment, medications, and referrals for follow-up care. Since 2007 we have provided tens of thousands of children with medical care.

With your support, we are ready to do even more. Based on our current capacity, CWB can conduct approximately four clinics each month, bringing lifesaving medical care to children who would otherwise have little or no access to healthcare. Over a six-month period, that means 24 clinics serving an estimated 2,400 children.

Your donation will help fund future clinics by covering medical supplies, physician costs, medications, and transportation to these remote communities. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps ensure that another child receives life-changing medical care.

Together, we can make sure that where a child lives never determines whether they have access to healthcare.
