🪨 Stones of Transformation: Mindfulness, Creativity & Connection 🌊
What can a stone teach us about ourselves?
For our six-week Mental Health Art & Mindfulness group, we’ve been working with stones collected from the shores of Lake Michigan—using them as canvases for reflection, creativity, and connection.
Each week, the stones become a starting point for exploring a different mental health theme:
🪨 Words of Encouragement — creating affirmation and kindness stones
🌱 Grounding & Stability — exploring sensory grounding and creating calm stones
⭕ Balance & Harmony — creating mindful mandalas
🦋 Identity & Self-Expression — exploring animals, symbols, values, and inner strengths
🌊 Transformation & Growth — reflecting on resilience, change, and becoming
🤝 Connection & Celebration — bringing our individual creations together as a community
There is something powerful about working with an object that has already been shaped by water, weather, time, and pressure.
The stones remind us that transformation doesn’t always happen all at once. Sometimes it happens slowly—one wave, one season, one moment at a time.
And like the stones, we don’t have to erase what has shaped us to become something new. We can carry our experiences while continuing to grow, soften, change, and discover new strengths.
Through mindfulness and creative expression, we are practicing being present with ourselves, recognizing what supports us, and making space for our own stories.
Sometimes a small stone can hold a very big reminder:
Breathe.
Keep going.
You are not alone.
You are still becoming. 🩵
